Guests are divided between stunningly beautiful property views and inconsistent maintenance, as some praise the pristine rooms and location while others report plumbing failures, malfunctioning air conditioning, and poor housekeeping.
Arrived Thursday the 5th of March. Woke up at 5 in the morning to a flooded bathroom and entry way because a water pipe had burst. We were relocated to a different room a few hours later…… New room seemed fine until bathroom lights would not come on. Fast forward to Sunday the 8th and had Dominoes pizza banging on the door at 130 in the morning. Here for business and I would never come back here to this resort
My family is very relaxed when it comes to reviews or not complaining about the small things on a trip. But when we showed up at 320pm and our check in time was 4pm which is understandable they could not allow us in before 4. But they told us a room wasnt available and they would call us when it was ready. Now this was perfectly fine we had already planned to go to the shop next door and hang out at the fire pit before. Then 4pm came around and no call so we go back to check in around 406 and the man said the room had been cleaned but not inspected so he would do this real fast. Which he did run up and check it out and then we got to the room around 420ish. Now this wouldnt normally both us but you spend 400-500 for one night then you expect to be able to check in on time. As checking out has to be 11am or else. Once we got to the room we quickly realized the ac was not working as it was 80 degrees in the room and the ac said it was set to 70. So we went and let the front desk people know. They did inform us that the ac had been messing up all day. They did send the repair man to fix it. Which he did get it to work a little but the ac did not work properly the rest of evening. Thankfully our trip was in feb so it was not super hot outside. Everything else was beautiful and amazing. The location is stunning and has wonderful potential. I would just suggest you get what you pay for as 500 a night is pricey.
Room service was lacking, seem to me lack of service personnel. Make sure prior or checking in to mention AAA member or military for discount, checking out they will not adjust. Shuttle was dependable on time. Fish House restaurant breakfast was a buffet, lacking. Reel inn ok. Photos indicates table paint chipping. Overall I would return.
Fabulous resort! Had a king room with patio in the beach club building. It was immaculate. Beautiful views, lovely fireplace and gorgeous bathroom. Stayed 3 nights and loved every minute of it!
I really like the hotel/facility and rooms. They are 5 stars without doubt. The mattress, pillows, sheets, cleaning were impeccable! The place is an attraction itself. You can enjoy beautiful sunsets, walk around the dock, tempered pool, free parking, shuttle to downtown and the impressive USS YORKTOWN just right there. However, my husband and I did not like the food or service at the Fish House restaurant. We had breakfast during our stay because it was convenient for our itinerary but was a poor menu, and service. Even though the price of food was fair, we were expecting better quality, menu and service. Once we checked-in at the hotel and we saw how wonderful it was/is, we were expecting everything else the same level of awesome but we were disappointed with the restaurant. Nonetheless, I highly recommend to stay in this beautiful Resort & Marina and have dinner outside if you don’t like the restaurant like in our case.
Extremely disappointed with this “4-star” stay. Our shower was broken and dripping all night, the fridge was hot and then unbearably loud when turned on, and the room was left hot with the AC off. We traveled over 2 hours for my surgery the next morning and couldn’t refrigerate the food I needed before fasting. There was also a huge locked closet that felt unsettling. For a stay that was supposed to be a splurge before a stressful day, this was a major letdown.
Amazing! Went here for a quick weekend getaway and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Location is perfect for those you want easy access to downtown but still need a quiet relaxing getaway. Water taxi is right out here back door. Ample parking - drive able to several restaurants and fun spots . Great hot tub and pool areas.
Nice hotel, just need a car to get around. Nice they have the free shuttle to Charleston, but walking for food is hard with my husband’s mobility issues. We did use Uber sometimes. I would not recommend taking a car into Charleston because of limited parking and parking prices. Streets are narrow with many horse carriages, mini tour buses and pedestrian tourist traffic. At the hotel lack luster overpriced restaurants with limited hours of operation. Finally rented a card and felt we had freedom to go to places further away like Boone Hall, Isle of Palm and Angel Oak. Not sure if we would stay here again.
The hotel is gorgeous. But don’t get confused by the $500 plus nightly rate, this isn’t a luxury stay. We loved the room, it was decorated gorgeous. But that lasted all of the first night. The housekeeping was awful. They made the beds so poorly, left the towels unfolded in a mountain on the floor basket. The pool bar was opened only one day and the other day we had to walk to a different location to grab a meal or drink. The pool does not have enough chairs for all the guests, so be ready to have no pool time. The guys at the front desk were always on their cell phones instead of being helpful. The bathroom ceiling in our room was moldy and the paint was peeling. It’s so deteriorated is so sad, because the build and decor is actually beautiful. Ultimately, it is a gorgeous location where you can go and grab a drink. But staying there will disappoint you. There are way better options in Charleston!
The resort was beautiful and the people working there were very friendly and helpful. We will be returning here again soon. The worst thing about the place is we had to leave at the end of our vacation. The room was nice and the front desk people were amazing
