This unit near Mt. Pleasant is praised for its convenient location near Charleston and the beach, with friendly staff and spacious suites, but it suffers from inconsistent maintenance and major booking issues.
Great location near Charleston, historical Mount Pleasant and the beach in Isle of Palms. Everything is walking distance from this hotel. Hotel might get worn out eventually but is well maintained…looks like they were working one room at a time with painting, carpeting, and new furniture from what we saw spending a week here. Nice shops and services nearby.
Cathy did it! She was awesome(front desk) very energetic and engaging, makes all the guest feel at home, breakfast attendant same, rooms great, location is 2 miles off main strip, but a few shops and eateries walkable with a park setting and trails very quiet if you want to be off the main drag, also 2 or 3 miles to the beach. We were made to feel like we were at home A++++++++++
Televisions went blank halfway through the Rose Bowl between Indiana and Alabama football teams. I graduated from Bloomington High School (South) and studied at Indiana University. So, I'm pissed about missing the second half of the Rose Bowl. My wife asked for a $75 refund for our pet fee as compensation. The hotel manager refused to do that, and now I see actually charged $90 for our cute little dog ($75 is the rate online when booking). There's never any trace our dog stayed at a hotel. Also, since the last time we stayed at this property they removed the microwave oven from the breakfast area. So, my wife had to drink cold mocha that she makes since there wasn't any way to heat it. (BTW: making my wife walk back to our guest room, make, heat it in the room microwave, and then walk back to the breakfast area isn't an option). Another issue, the king bed in our suite was so high I could barely get into it and I'm almost 6 feet tall). My wife had a tough time climbing up, so I made step for her with one of the sofa cushions. We really like this property and location. Sadly, despite our previous great experiences at this Homewood Suites, we're never coming back.
My husband and I agree this location was a winner. As a self professed Clean Freak, I was so happy here! There was not one iota of yuck! The bath, kitchen and bed were amazingly clean. We needed extra pillows and the desk clerk stopped what he was doing to find them (with a great attitude). I highly recommend this Homewood Suites and look forward to our next visit!!
Excellent place to have a dog with you. Staff are great and accommodating. We had room 105 and it's quiet even though the elevator is close. Highly recommend this place If you are visiting isle of palms area. Pool is more than a puddle and less than a lake and it has a basketball court. Location is great if you're setting a base to visit the beaches and go to charleston and there is shopping literally across the road
There was no hot water most of the trip. I took a cold shower. The beds and pillows are not comfortable. A patch in the wall of our room, room had a foul food smell, clicking at night. The maintenance guy,Joseph, was amazing! He fixed our hot water. Breakfast was not great, coffee was luke warm No biscuits and gravy not enough of a variety of juices. Not enough pastries. The staff was friendly and listened to our complaints.
I like the area. It's really beautiful to just walk around. Lots of places within a 2 - 5 minute walk. Free parking. Outdoor pool. Ample outdoor seating, surrounded by trees, and a grill area. The hot water in the shower was very cold - I had to keep calling the front desk, so they can reset it, which was a huge setback, when I have 3 small children, and they were cold, waiting for the hot water to turn on. The pool water must have been just treated, because their eyes were bloody red, and very irritated. Their business area was out of order yesterday, but today, one of their computers was working, and their printer wasn't locked, so I managed to print something. The area is really beautiful, and it is only 10 minutes from the beach, with free parking. I usually stay in one of the Hiltons in North Charleston when I visit, and this is so much better.
If I could put ZERO stars I would. Hilton diamond member with a reservation I made 8 months ago. Drove EIGHT hours, just to check in and be told that they actually gave our rooms away last night and there is nothing they can do about it. Meanwhile, I checked on my app the night prior. It’s Labor Day weekend, my entire family is here for a wedding, and all hotels are booked up. Now my family of 7 has no where to stay for 3 days because they just gave away my reservation. This is after I stopped in at 3pm to confirm again, and they told me to come back at 4pm for the room to be ready. Meanwhile the first desk person I spoke to, scrolled through his phone the whole time and barely answered a questions. Then, when I returned at 4pm, the new desk worker was young, nervous, and did the best he could to be 2 weeks on the job. All while the manager gave minimal assistance on the phone (cause she was not present) and I had to argue and advocate for solution for my family rather than someone doing their job. Magically, they find 2 rooms that have a bed and a pullout couch after things get heated. Still difficult due to varying ages in our family of 7 but we make it work, because at that point we were desperate. Honestly RIDICULOUS & piss poor business. Side note, our rooms we were put in, REAKED of mold. As we heard several other families in the halls complaining of the same thing. Save yourself the trouble and just Do NOT book here. I have been traveling for years internationally and this was BY FAR the worst experience I have ever had.
We came down for a family vacation and from the moment we walked in and and began talking to Cathy we felt right at home! She got to know our whole family and offered so many suggestions for places to eat, things to do and sights to see! It was so great, we ended up extending our stay because we just didn’t want to leave. The pool and outdoor area is perfect! You are so close to the beach, the hotel even offered us chairs and an umbrella to use. Breakfast was good, it would have been nice to have some variety as it was the same thing everyday but the kids really enjoyed it! I am already planning our next vacation there and can’t wait to see Cathy again! Thank you for all you do!!!
We really enjoyed our stay. The lobby, lounge, kitchen and dining area are nicely furnished, open and spacious. The daily breakfast has a good variety. I have never had BBQ pork with Blueberry muffins until now and it was good. We stayed in a suite which was large with a good flow and big TV. The beds were comfortable, but the duvet covers were a bit worn. The bathrooms water pressure was lacking, it could have been a water saver shower head. The grounds are pretty, especially the Crape Myrtles, but the parking spaces were a bit trashy. The pool is nice and so is the warm water in the evenings. There is also a basketball court. The outdoor area is great with several gazebo’s and a large outdoor kitchen with a dining table. You can’t beat the location, the beach one way and Charleston the other and everything in between. There are also plenty of places you can walk to. The staff were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again
