The Hilton Garden Inn Charleston Airport receives generally positive reviews, praised for its convenient location near the airport, spacious rooms, and friendly staff. However, a recurring issue with inconsistent hot water and slow elevator service negatively impacts the overall experience. Recent improvements and staff responsiveness have helped to mitigate some concerns, but potential guests should be aware of these potential drawbacks.
The room we stay in was very roomy with the two double beds a the living room area with an L- shaped couch that pulls out into a bed. There were 4 of us and we were not cramped at all! Friendly staff and a very nice breakfast spread.
The hotel itself is very nice and well decorated. It was packed when we came, so not “ample” parking, but there were enough spaces. Beds are nice. Firm, but comfy. The breakfast is not free, so know that in advance. Customer service is seriously lacking. They follow more of a grunt-and-point policy. Not great communication and no smiles, barely any eye contact. The bus driver should be the front desk person. Much more friendly. This lack of friendliness or even speaking really is a turn off for this location.
We selected this location due to its proximity to an early morning flight. The location is ideal for Charleston airport, and the hotel's cleanliness is exceptional. The front desk staff, particularly Jasmine B., provided a warm and welcoming greeting. Additionally, shuttle driver Mr. Elijah demonstrated excellent driving skills and exceptional courtesy. Given the numerous strengths of this location, I highly recommend it.
This hotel was great for my friend and I when our flight got cancelled and they moved us to the next day. Everyone we met at this hotel was really nice but we got exceptional service from the shuttle driver Mack and the waitress in the restaurant whose name I forget but who was a black girl with glasses. Both were so friendly and lovely at a time when we really needed it.
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. On the positive side, the property was clean, the linens were fresh, and the bathroom was well-maintained. Unfortunately, the biggest issue during my stay was the lack of hot water. I discovered the problem in the evening. When contacting the front desk for assistance - they stated it was due to the high volume of people at the hotel and apologized for the inconvenience. Naturally, I thought to wait it out because, surely, if it was due to high volume of water use - it would eventually bounce back. But after checking the water every 30 minutes for several hours - the hot water never came. I decided to shower in the morning - again, thinking it would improve by then. But there was only a marginal improvement. So clearly - there is more to the issue than just a high volume of people staying at the hotel. Overall, while cleanliness and basic comfort were good, the absence of hot water — especially after requesting help — significantly impacted my experience. I hope management and the chief engineer addresses this issue promptly, as it overshadowed what could have been a much more positive stay.
Upon attempting to take a shower, the hot water was not working. I called the front desk and the desk attendant told me that it must be all the long showers that others were taking. This was at 9:30pm. I tested the hot water every 30min till 1am and there was no hot water. There was also no hot water in the morning. Reading other reviews allowed me to see this is a consistent issue with this hotel. The hotel is moderately clean and nice otherwise, but if you want a hot shower I suggest you stay elsewhere.
Excellent stay! Shuttled from the airport in a new van, with a really friendly driver. Room was spacious and clean. Staff was helpful and greeted me each morning. I am planning my next stay already.
Personal pet peeve of mine: when you have to get soaked to turn on the shower because they SCREWED THE DOOR SHUT on the side with the valve. Literally zero reason whatsoever to do this. Also, the water never actually got hot so I had a very tepid shower because "there was nothing they could do because the maintenance guy went home" when I went to the front desk to mention the lack of hot water. (Not just me either -- there were multiple other people also complaining at the same time) I'm giving a +1 star because the rest of the room was actually pretty nice if perhaps bland. However, I'm staying at a HILTON because I don't want to deal with cheap hotel issues. $250 a night after pet fee? Y'all better have a damn maintenance guy on-call 24/7. What's the point of spending money to upgrade my stay when it results in a problem I've never even had at cheap motels? + Good room layout + Modern aesthetic + Overall clean, updated look and feel --- No hot water -- "Nothing we can do" - Expensive for no reason, apparently - Shower door doesn't open so you get soaked in cold water turning it on UPDATE, next morning: As other reviews mentioned, the pillows are terrible. Also, I see why they screwed the shower closed: the gap under the glass is so big that water splashes out of the shower onto the floor and is rusting/rotting the wall. See photo. -1 star for a perfect 1 star :) UPDATE 2: Hilton actually reached out to my husband who made the reservation and the short story is that they apologized profusely for the issues and cut our bill in half. All in all a solid resolution, and I'm going to update my review AGAIN to three stars. One last comment though: They'd originally charged us 2x (double billed) for the pet fee, which they corrected when they called us. I'd like it if the front desk staff would review other bills for correctness before charging residents 2x for pet fees.
This hotel exceeded all expectations. The staff is absolutely the most friendly staff of any hotel. I’ve stayed in recent history. And I travel for a living. Every single staff member I encountered was very friendly and warm and welcoming. There’s a bar a restaurant, a fire pit a little mini convenience store type Shop in the lobby. The gym is out of this world. I work out when I travel and it’s probably top five hotel gyms of all time. It’s a 20 minute walk to the outlet mall and lots of shopping. Walmart. Topgolf. Tons of bars and restaurants within walking distance. It’s also one of the closest hotels to the airport. I hope I get to stay here again.
Arrived to stay and use meeting room for a class over the weekend. I was greeted by the driver Fred and upon arrival Brett in sales was also onsite. Brett made sure I had everything I needed and all was perfect. What a 5 star team they are and it was great to see them both upon a return visit from a prior location. It was my first time at this location and I must say I misplaced the names of some of the staff but a few stood out that I can list and a big thank you also to the driver Ryan as well as the driver that took me back to the airport Sunday morning. The 7am driver had not shown up for his shift and the overnight driver left however, the overnight driver came back and took me to the airport around 7:30am even though he was off and he was so nice. A big thank you to Mikayla in the restaurant and hostess area. I saw her evening and morning and she was wonderful... A great breakfast hostess too. I also met Shayla who was also most pleasant and friendly. The rooms were clean and a nice selection for dinner. The meeting rooms were plenty spacious and the staff made sure we were taken care of during our stay.
