The Meeting Street Inn offers a historic Charleston experience with a convenient location across from the City Market and walking distance to numerous attractions. Guests consistently praise the friendly staff, complimentary evening treats (wine, cheese, cookies, and milk), and the Southern charm of the property. However, some reviewers have raised concerns regarding the lobby scent and inconsistent quality of breakfast.

Location was great but that's as far as it goes. What was advertised as old world charm was really lack of maintenance, a shabby room, and an uncharming motel lobby. we prefer to stay at old world inns, but this one crossed the line to filthy. When we requested another room we were charged more.

The Inn is located in the perfect spot with walking distance to everything you want. It is directly across the street from the market and shops and restaurants all around. Arteice was so friendly and welcoming from the minute we checked in to the minute we checked out. She is a gem. The free breakfast was wonderful along with wine/cheese and beer at 5pm & even cookies and milk at 8pm. You get a lot of bang for your buck at The Meeting St Inn.

Oh my gosh don’t get me started on this hotel. This is the best hotel I’ve ever been in for travel wise. The location of this hotel is great, the people that work here are so kind and willing to help. It sounds funny but having a vending machine at the bottom floor is a live saver. Good breakfast food. This is an awesome hotel if you are looking for a niche, chic, old, classy, clean, organized, small, simple, colorful, elegant hotel. However the pool is a little small but that’s besides any of it.

Exceptional stay and amenities were thoughtful and memorable. Continental breakfast was a little different every day and I enjoyed this, especially the crispy bacon! The 5 o’clock wine hour was nice with 3 types of wine, beer, cheese and wine with grapes, strawberries and olives, crackers and my personal favorite pickled okra. The caveat was milk and cookies at 8 and they were the best chocolate chip cookies. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious with a courtyard taking us back to old Charleston. The doorman was sweet and polite with enough charm to make me want to come back.

This room was great. The hotel is older but has that southern charm. It is well taken care of and In a great location. Best of all, the service and attention here is amazing. Every single front desk employee we encountered was amazing, I wish I knew all of their names, we met Atleast 4 and multiple staff that help set up the wine and cheese/ cookies and hot chocolate and breakfast stations. And yes you read right, this hotel has breakfast, then wine and cheese at 5, then cookies and milk in the evening. My cousin also fell walking on the sidewalk in Charleston and they even ran to get her bandaids and Neosporin. They really made us feel welcomed.

Thank you, Arteice, for your warm welcome and wonderful service at the Meeting Street Inn in Charleston. The daytime staff of Arteice and Renee are the best! In addition to lovely historic accommodations with the historic City Market just across the street, our lodging included From 7-9am a lively breakfast buffet bar of scrambled eggs, sausage patties, a variety of fresh fruit, pastries, bagels & assorted cream cheese, OJ, coffee and a variety of teas. An evening of wine and a wonderful charcuterie spread of meats, cheeses, humus, olives, crackers, fresh strawberries and more Followed later by fresh baked cookies and hot chocolate, coffee, tea or cold drinks. Rooms were clean and recently renovated, beds were comfy, linens were ample and staff was gracious.

Staff is friendly and accommodating and our room was nicely cleaned each day. Our room was roomy and comfortable. The shower tends to make the bathroom floor quite wet. The welcome goodies were amazing and delicious. We appreciated the free breakfast and the wine and cheese in the afternoon and the courtyard was lovely. My one complaint was the jasmine smell that is diffused into the lobby. I know I’m not the only person who has a sensitivity to perfumes, and the smell was so powerful it made me ill. Those chemicals make me feel nauseous and give me a headache. I could not stand to be in the breakfast room for more than a minute or two. Why would management diffuse such a powerful smell when some people cannot tolerate it? It wasn’t even a nice smell at all, purely chemical. I did mention it to the front desk and they said there had been prior complaints. Management, are you listening? I would never return simply because of this horrid scent.

My husband and I travel often and have stayed at many wonderful hotels across South Carolina, including The Wentworth, The Sanctuary, and The Grand Bohemian. Unfortunately, our experience at the Meeting Street Inn was far from what we expected—especially at nearly $800 per night once taxes, fees, and parking were added. The only real positive was the convenient downtown location, which honestly isn’t a selling point for us. The staff, for the most part, seemed indifferent and disengaged. The only person who truly stood out for their kindness was the gentleman assisting with breakfast. Speaking of breakfast—it was underwhelming at best. The online photos show something much more appealing than what was actually served. When I woke up Sunday morning, all I wanted to do was check out and leave. For the price, I expected far better service, atmosphere, and amenities. Overall, the stay was just adequate—and that’s being generous. We won’t be returning.

Great place for a girls trip to Charleston. Convenient location in the historic districts. Walking distance to rainbow row, the waterfront, lots of restaurants and shopping. Loved the location. Complimentary Cheese and wine every night at 5:00 and what a spread! Breakfast in the morning which included eggs. Beautiful bathroom in marble like tile. Overall a great place to stay. Parking easy walk to hotel and you can park in front to unload.

Super nice "Old House Historic" feel. The staff was beyond friendly and helpful. Conveniently located for walking downtown. Peaceful and quiet. Beware- Parking will cost you another $30 per day.
