The Indigo Inn offers a convenient and affordable base for exploring Charleston, boasting a central courtyard and friendly staff. While some reviews note dated aspects and potential noise from the elevator, many highlight the excellent location, complimentary amenities, and overall positive guest experience. Recent renovations are improving the property.
Hi yeah I agree with the other reviews that say the hotel has friendly staff and nicely updated rooms and comfortable beds. One thing that I think could make it better is if they would get air conditioning units that are quiet they are very loud and it's really disruptive to sleep which is pretty much one of the main reasons that you're there. So I understand getting all new ones would be very expensive but as they go down and need replaced perhaps you could find a quieter model. The wine and cheese in the evening and the complimentary breakfast was very nice. Also one other thing is it's very dark when you walk through the hallway to the courtyard cuz it's painted that deep dark green if it was brighter would make such a different impression. Overall I would definitely stay again. Location was great for the town of Charleston
Read the reviews which were mixed and mainly stated that the place was outdated, rooms smelled musty, and that the bathrooms were small. I called the front desk before reserving and asked about all 3 of those main concerns. She told me that yes, the baths are small as the hotel was built in the 70's but that they recently renovated the rooms and that she has never noticed the musty smell. I thought I did my due diligence and decided to give Indigo a try as we were only staying one night and could handle the small bath for that short period. When we arrived (room 105 on 5/28/26) the musty/mold smell hit us immediatetly when we opened the door. I have a sinus condition worsens around poor air quality. The room was relativey clean but there was someone's fake eye lash on our bed frame. Saying that they were "recently renovated" was a play of words. It looked like they put down new flooring , installed a bath mirror, painted and probably changed out the mattreses. It was an attempt at a "refresh" and not a renovation as the electically, HVAC, plumbing, doors, tile, wall board was very dated. Moldy bath caulk didn't fit my expectations either. Some people don't notice that or care so this hotel would be a good fit for them. The hotel does have a great location and the parking lot was close and convenient. They also did a nice job with breakfast and with happy hour. Oh yeah, the interior room was a plus as it was very quiet. Just be aware if these things bother you too. Out total bill with taxes and 1 night of parking came out to $329.70. Hope that helps.
We stayed at both the Indigo Inn and its sister property, Jasmine Inn. Since we booked at the last minute, we were unable to book two nights at the same property, so we stayed one night at each. Miki was extremely helpful with getting our accommodations sorted out before our arrival. During our stay, Ethan made everything so much easier for us. All of the staff were very friendly. There is convenient onsite self-parking at a reasonable rate ($28/day). There are several nice complementary amenities such as a wine/cheese/dessert evening offering as well as cookies and milk. The Jasmine includes a very tasty breakfast which is ordered from a menu and delivered to the room. Nice touch! The rooms were large, climate controlled and quiet. Finally, the Indigo and the Jasmine are ideally located for easy access to everything in Charleston.
Old in. Central Court yard. All rooms exit to courtyard. Three floors... stairs and elevator. Offered evening snacks and continental breakfast... that I skipped. Small lobby area. I don't think there were tables... just upholstered chairs. Employees very nice. Cool lighted mirror. Check-in at 3... check out at noon... what?! No one offers that anymore. Nice rooms.
The hotel is located in very convenient location. Just around the the corner from the market and it's only a short walk through a stunning neighborhood to the waterfront. The staff and accommodation were great and the complimentary charcuterie board and wine was a lovely treat.
Good place. Loved the continental breakfast and "Evening Reception". Service was also on point. Location in town was very good. Our room was close to the housekeeping area on the second floor which made it noisy and unsightly. They should consider a new arrangement from the current one of keeping 3 or 4 carts in the hallway. We would definitely stay here again.
I loved my stay at the Indigo Inn, the location cannot be beat for the price! Lovely rooms with a beautiful courtyard. Steps away from the market. Lovely wine and cheese hour and coffee and tea service 24/7. Each of the staff I met were kind and helpful. Will definitely stay again!
A great value for the location. Parking is convenient and priced well. The rooms have been updated and I appreciate the hard surface floors. So glad hotels are moving away from carpeting. Our room was a corner king, with a small window overlooking the parking lot. It was near the elevator, which made it a bit noisy as I could hear the elevator running and people getting off late in the evening. I would stay here again in a courtyard view room away from the elevator. The courtyard is lovely and in better weather would be ideal for enjoying the complementary evening wine and cheese and morning breakfast.
Staying here was great. My family stayed 4 nights. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance to everything you would want to go see or go shopping within the city. There are restaurants located right out front of the hotel. Make sure you bring some good shoes for walking because we walked between 4 to 8 miles exploring the city each day. We decided to keep our vehicle parked at the hotel because that was the easiest option. The parking lot is tight so if you have a big vehicle it can be tricky.
Very friendly service, every staff member was kind and thoughtful. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed & the pillows were amazing. The location was really convenient, in the heart of the historic district. They offered afternoon wine/beer & charcuterie board, evening milk & fresh baked cookies, plus a nice selection for breakfast. Their coffee was delicious & available 24/7.
