The Courtyard by Marriott North Charleston Airport/Coliseum is experiencing some significant issues, including inconsistent room quality, staffing problems, and ongoing renovations. While some guests praise the location, friendly staff, and modern appearance, recurring issues with cleanliness, room malfunctions, and a poorly maintained pool are concerning. Recent stays have been marred by lockouts, lack of amenities, and unresponsive customer service.
This hotel has a great location and that’s it. This was a horrible stay but that’s pretty on brand for Courtyard. I used points last minute and regret it. The ice machine was broken and I was put in a handicap accessible room. I will never return to this property
I have stayed here a few times. Came after the remodel - it looks good in the room and much cleaner. The downside - no more shampoo/conditioner/body body wash in the shower. Not even in the request - ran out and got some from Walmart but in all my Marriott stays that is a first.
I stayed two nights at this hotel. The first night was fine, but on the second night I lost my key and the front desk refused to give me a new one, even after I showed my ID and confirmation, and I had paid with my own card. The front desk agent even threatened to call the police and made me wait until the next shift (after 11:20 p.m.) before I could get into my own room. The next employee checked in a few minutes and confirmed that I was a registered guest. I also felt that the poor treatment might have been due to my Latino accent, which raises a concern about possible discriminatory behavior. Because of this experience, I do not recommend this hotel.
Stayed for one night and had a great experience from start to finish. Caleb greeted us immediately with a warm and friendly welcome, which made us feel right at home. The rooms were clean, modern, and very comfortable, and the amenities were impressive. We really loved the hotel’s new look. The location is excellent. We had dinner in downtown Charleston and the drive back was quick and easy. It is also very convenient if you are flying in or out of the airport. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it.
If your not from the area, or never been. Which describes us. This isn’t the “nicest” part of town. Anyways, Hotel has the “looks new but with the cheapest possible new items” vibe. They messed up our rooms on multiple instances. First, they put us in the wrong room and on the second night they locked us out of our rooms. We found a hair tie left in our shower, which makes me believe it wasn’t fully cleaned. The elevator was broken and felt like it was going to break every time we used it. The ice machine was partially broken/fixed, with parts laying on the floor. Also be aware you are sharing a microwave with the entire floor. They no longer are provided in each room. All information was passed on, and Jeff Sargent contacted me asking how he could “regain our confidence”, funny thing is he never responded back to make up for the bad experience.
I came from IL to support my client who is disabled. From the time I checked to make sure he had proper accommodations, speaking with Desiree via text and phone, to our check in, the Staff was phenomenal. I also especially appreciate the work ethics of Dorsey and Ravan who both went above and beyond to help me and keep me encouraged on my journey. You do not find the level of customer service these three offered often. It was a pleasure to stay at this particular hotel and as long as these three are here, I will. Thank you for having the wherewithal to hire and retain them. They are assets to this company!!
We can to stay one night. My husband checked us in so I don’t have anything positive or negative to say about the staff. When we got to our room we had issues getting the door open. Eventually we got it. The room was clean. What makes this room disgusting for me is the morning we got up to leave I opened my purse flap and a roach was on it. No I do not have roaches in my house. On our way to the car we walked around back. There’s a literally pile of boxes just laying on the ground and old furniture thrown in the woods from the renovation. Overall the experience was fine.
I’d like to recognize the outstanding efforts of the following team members: Angie, Jessica, Tia, and Deseree at the Front Desk; Peaches, Housekeeping Manager; and the entire housekeeping team. These remarkable ladies went above and beyond during my stay. I wish them all the best and look forward to returning soon!
A fantastic hotel. Close to the airport and super comfy beds. The towels are fluffy and the shower-head is strong. The desk employees are efficient and kind. My only complaint ( and it's a big one) is that the pool was in a horrible state. I swim before bed, when traveling, & I like to workout in the pool most mornings. It's why I picked this particular location. Pass this by if a pool is a traveling "need".
Hotel is under major renovations and should be avoided until complete. Our room was one of the ones not done yet, and apparently not on the cleaning rotation. Thick layer of dust on all surfaces. Mini fridge didn't work, coffee pot but no mug or coffee pods. Hole in couch cushion, peeling wallpaper. Dirty and stained bathroom surfaces. The pool was under construction. The staff were all very nice tho, but didn't let us know the state of the amenities when we checked in.
