Recent reviews of the Hyatt Place Mt. Pleasant/Towne Centre reveal a mixed experience, with some guests praising the location, service, and cleanliness, while others report significant issues with noise, billing errors, and inconsistent room quality. Notably, several guests highlighted exceptional service from specific staff members, particularly Parker and Ashley, but also noted problems with property maintenance and overall brand standards.
This was, without question, the most disappointing stay I have had within the Hyatt portfolio. I am a World of Hyatt Globalist (Hyatt’s highest membership tier) and stay at multiple Hyatt properties worldwide throughout the year for work. Despite that loyalty, there was no recognition, compensation or meaningful effort to address the issues encountered during this stay at the Hyatt Place Mount Pleasant. The primary issue is noise. My initial room was located next to the elevator. After a late 1am check-in, I was woken shortly after 6am by hallway traffic, elevator chimes, guests moving about, and noise from adjacent rooms. The soundproofing throughout the building appears to be fundamentally inadequate — normal conversations and routine activity were clearly audible through the walls and door. I later requested to be moved to another room away from the elevator, but the problem persisted. Internal hallway noise, housekeeping operations, and exterior noise were all easily heard. This is not an isolated room issue; it appears to be a building-wide construction deficiency. To add to the experience, the view from the room was directly over dumpster bins (photo attached). For a property carrying the Hyatt name, the overall experience felt far below brand standards. The included breakfast was mediocre at best. The dining area was generally dirty, and tables not properly wiped clean. Guests were responsible for dropping their own dirty dishes off to be cleaned. The place felt more like a high school cafeteria. Additionally as others have reported, the shower water is lukewarm at best. Hyatt is generally known for consistency and quality. Unfortunately, this property falls well short of that expectation. If rest, quiet, or even basic room standards matter to you, I would strongly suggest considering alternative accommodations.
Spacious rooms, better than average breakfast, good bed, quiet, convenient parking, excellent service (especially Parker at the front desk & Parker at the bar/grill). Not many places to eat after 8pm.
I look forward to my next stay as everything was so peaceful clean and welcoming. Great nights rest. The entire staff made me feel weclomed, making themselves available & eager to assist with anything I needed. The rooms are very clean and spacious, breakfast was fresh and delicious. Pool is heated very clean area, in addition to the 2nd floor lounge area inside and outside serene and clean with beautiful comfortable decor throughout. Walking score is 10, I literally parked my vehicle in the covered secure garage upon arrival and walked to stores like Belk's, Lululemon, Aerie, American Eagle and more. There's also wonderful restaurants and a movie theater in Walking distance. I highly recommend Hyatt Place Mount Pleasant Towne Centre to everyone visiting this area for a short stay or long stay, very peaceful and relaxing environment. Big thank you to Parker and all the other amazing women at the front desk, you are so appreciated! Sincerely, Tiffany W
Great location with attached parking garage. Good breakfast compared to other hotels in this range. Only there one night but wouldn't have wanted to stay there longer than that for a few reasons: Although the space is comfortable with a small sofa, the bathroom is tiny and the lighting is very dim in the entire room and bathroom. While I appreciate that there is a full length mirror in the room and hairdryer, there is really no place to put on makeup or curl your hair. There is a desk but only a worklamp that doesn't move taking up the space. The bathroom does have a large sink but there is only the back lit mirror which is quite dim and in our case only the bottom part of it worked. There is also no way to adjust the room below a pre set temp, however, the hotel was kind to send up a fan upon request. We also travel with our Roku Stick and there was no way to put it in the HDMI slot. Minor inconvenience for just one night as I said. I think this is a nice place to stay for work, or if you just need to shower and sleep after a day of enjoying the area, but we will choose a different place next time.
Last month my colleagues and I just spent one night there but all of us had a good experience. The rooms are modern and clean and we enjoyed the breakfast which was included. The location is fabulous, surrounded by all kinds of restaurants and stores. I especially would like to commend Tabitha Joy who welcomed us at the reception when we checked in. She was so friendly and helpful with all our questions. I worked reception at different hotels for 10 years so I know it can be challenging! Please thank Tabitha for us. We look forward to our next visit.
My experience with this hotel has been nothing short of dreadful. I booked and paid for the hotel room through Booking.com on August 28th and when I arrived at the hotel, the front desk supervisor (Parker) asked for my credit card. I didn't think anything of it and gave it to her thinking it's just to hold a card on file for in the event of any damages. However, this was not the case. She proceeded to charge me for the room again ($717.00). We immediately noticed it and informed of her error, and she said she would have the General Manager reverse the charges, but this did not happen. It's now mid-October and after many calls to Parker at the Hyatt and her stating that she's refunding the money back to my card and sending an emailing reflecting that, it still hasn't happened. We recently open a claim with their corporate office to get a resolution, and Bradley the General Manager attempted to close the claim stating that they resolved the claim, but they have not. We will now file a claim with our credit card company as well. It's really unfortunate that it has come to this but these individuals that represent this hotel brand are a poor representation. If you stay here, beware of being charged twice for the same reservation.
Service was great especially from Parker. The location was nice with lots of restaurants and walkable. Hotel was very quiet and smelled nice. However, the bed was a little too soft for my back and the fire or carbon alarm light blinking in my room was distracting. Also, the pool was out of service the 3 days we were there. Overall it was still a nice place to stay.
We visited 2 weeks ago & the overall experience was great! I really like the location, we took a scenic walk for exercising, hotel is very clean, the staff was welcoming & friendly. Breakfast was included, good food & coffee. I recommend this hotel & will definitely visit again.
We only stayed one night, and overall the location was fantastic. The hotel is surrounded by charming shops, restaurants, an ice cream parlor, and even a movie theater; all within easy walking distance. The staff was by far the friendliest I’ve ever encountered, and the property itself was spotless. The beds were very comfortable, even the pull-out sofa, and breakfast offered plenty of delicious options. That said, a couple of things fell short. The “high floor” view was not worth the extra cost; we were overlooking the roof and garbage area, which was pretty disappointing. The biggest drawback, though, was the bathroom design. You can hear everything happening inside, which made it uncomfortably awkward. No microwave in the room was inconvenient. Overall, while there were some cons, I would choose this hotel again for a short stay.
When my family and I checked into the hotel, we were first given the wrong room and only realized after carrying all of our luggage upstairs. We then had to go back down to switch rooms and wait while the correct room was cleaned. While the staff member assisting us tried to avoid having us wait, it would have been far better had she communicated that upfront so we could have made an informed decision. Later, a different staff member created additional issues by mishandling our payment information. She was uncertain whether our room had already been paid for, asked me for my card, then abruptly said never mind and removed my card from file without telling me, even though she was supposed to add it for incidental charges. Because of this, when I ordered food and drinks at the bar and charged them to the room, the charges did not process correctly. After we had already laid down for the night, we received a call requiring me to return to the front desk to resolve it. I was then charged half the bar tab, told it would remain open, and later at checkout was billed again—resulting in being charged for the stay twice, billed $75 for $50 worth of food, and still having the $50 incidental fee pending. When we attempted to resolve this with the front desk, the young woman working did her best to help but could not fix the problem. She consulted the manager, Mr. Bradlee Howell, but instead of coming out to speak with us directly, he repeatedly sent her back with sticky notes. Only after I insisted did he finally come out, but his demeanor was dismissive and unprofessional. He did not greet or acknowledge us until prompted, explained his side before listening to ours, and initially dismissed my concerns about being charged multiple times until I repeated myself several times, at which point he finally admitted he would have to look into it. His attitude throughout was irritated and unhelpful, and he muttered a brief apology before walking away. This entire interaction was disrespectful and unprofessional, and it left the impression that if I had not pressed the issue, nothing would have been resolved. Overall, the hotel itself was moderate at best, but the combination of billing errors, poor communication, and the manager’s lack of professionalism made the stay extremely disappointing. The only positive part of our experience was the effort of the young lady at the front desk, who tried her best despite being placed in a difficult situation by her manager. Because of these repeated issues, I will not return to this location and will strongly reconsider using Hyatt in the future.
