The Palms Oceanfront Hotel offers a prime location on the beach and within walking distance of island attractions, appealing to travelers seeking easy access to the area’s activities. However, recent reviews highlight inconsistencies in room quality, cleanliness, and service, with recurring issues regarding parking, noise, and outdated amenities, leading to concerns about the value for the price.

I wish this was a 5 star review… but it is not! The location of the Palms is wonderful and rooms were clean. But the smell of hot spoiled garbage wafting from the extremely small parking garage was unbearable. False fire alarms and room keys failing plus a ticket price of $500 per night; simply not worth it. If you’re going to charge Wild Dune prices, then give us that experience. This was a beach front motel at a luxury price. Breakfast was a joke! Folger’s coffee, come on! One of the receptionists was very nice and helpful and one was not! Just b/c your beach front… well… I think you get the point.

This place is obvious that the owner knows they can make money with minimal effort. There are a lot of things my wife and I noticed during our stay. First, appearance wise, rooms are a little rough. The baseboards are scratched and worn in many places. Our room had a towel rack that was recently replaced and the patch and paint job from the old rack was not good. The bed sheets felt like a piece of college ruled paper. Along with uncomfortable bedding we were greeted with sandy sheets the first day. A little attention to detail and minor upgrades would make the place a lot nicer. Second, amenities are lacking. The ice machine did not work the entirety of our stay and there is no available water fountain anywhere to fill up water bottles. Third, the complimentary breakfast is 100% carbs other than packaged hard boiled eggs, peanut butter, and yogurt there are no protein options. The only true positive of the hotel is the location, it is directly on the beach and in the center of everything located on the island.

We stayed at this hotel from 7/31-8/2. The location of the hotel was nice, close to the beach, and walking distance to everything. First, I have to say that it was a really poor design to have the rooms be "interior" and have the ACs vent into the hallway. This makes the hallway extremely hot, and the AC units work so much harder. Nothing that can be done about that now. Our AC unit wasn't working well and could not cool our room down. As soon as we checked in, I noticed that our fridge (no freezer section) was running really warm (over 55°F). I had breastmilk and could not safely keep it in the fridge. I had to store my breastmilk and supplies in the employee fridge/freezer. On the second day of our stay, the manager had our fridge and ac unit replaced without even coming to our room to verify that there was an issue. We were grateful for the switch, but not checking leads me to believe that there were previous complaints. The WiFi also did not work in the room during our entire stay. He did come down to the room to check out the wifi. He discovered our phone wasn't plugged in and said it should fix the issue, but it didn't. We could connect to the wifi in the hallway and the lobby, so something weird was happening in the room (120). The elevator was working on and off and had to be reset several times a day. We had to walk up and down the stairs with our stroller, baby, and luggage. When you arrive, you get hit with a parking fee and likely can't park on site, but in a municple parking lot that is walking distance. I had talked to one of the staff at night when I brought my breastmilk down to the fridge, and she was the only one to offer us any type of compensation, a reimbursement of the parking fee. At $400+ a night, I really don't feel we got our money's worth. When I went to check out, the manager (who I dealt with several times) told me that I was all set and I'd get my receipt emailed to me. I told him that I spoke to someone the night before, and he cut me off to tell me "yeah your parking has been taken off. You'll get your receipt emailed to you" as if I was a major inconvenience. I understand that it must be annoying to deal with complaints and building issues (I have worked at a hotel and in customer service), but I felt his demeanor was a bit rude (not in every interaction but some). When people are spending that much to stay somewhere, you have the expectation of comfort and safety. I do have to give credit where it is due and say that the manager worked hard to keep correcting the issues in the building, and I personally watched him lug some guest's luggage down the stairs. My interactions with the other staff, including maintenance and housekeeping, were all great. We were especially grateful to the kind maintenance man who was very considerate of the fact that we had a baby in the room and didn't want to spray anything while she was present. He worked hard to replace our ac and fridge and got them both up and working.

I knew what to expect based on the hotel's website / reviews and knew going in that parking would be a little annoying. We parked in the municipal lot and didn't have any reason to leave the 2 nights, so not a major issue for us. We booked an interior king room. Once we saw it, we asked to switch to an oceanfront. The girl working at the desk was super sweet and got us set up to move for our 2nd night. If you aren't planning to spend any time in your room, the interior room would be ok. It was super hot during our stay, so we wanted a place to chill and have the view during beach breaks. The interior room was a bit loud with people coming back to their rooms late the nigjt we were there. We heard nothing our night in the oceanfront room. I would highly suggest the oceanfront room if you're planning to spend any amount of time in your room besides sleeping. The pool was nice to cool off in between beach visits. It was surprisingly refreshing despite the hot temps we were having. I'd say that as long as you go in expecting the beach hotel vibe and realize you are mainly paying for the location, you will be happy staying here. It was clean, comfortable and ovean views / people watching were prime.

Ale was great and enhanced our experience. This place was amazing location. Steps from the beach, had its own outside shower, and parking was great. We had an oceanfront room and it was great for us (toddler with us) she loved seeing the bunnies in the maritime forest, but I always had a view of the waves and could hear the waves. Near great food places. Breakfast was great- pancake bar, bagels, boiled eggs and cereal. The room was clean and a large room (2 double beds). I want to book for next year but they are only booking through January.

This was the worst hotel we ever stayed in. WARNING DO NOT STAY HERE. We asked for a partial view (all they had left). We booked 2 months ago. We got there late Sunday. We opened the curtain and there was a restaurant patio smack in front of our patio. Partial ocean view was A FAlSE advertisement. They said contact manager in the morning. We got moved upstairs one floor to a better view at 6:30 am because the rooms would book. Then #1 fridge did not work, door to patio handle broken. The air fluctuated from humidifier to air. The bathroom fan did not work, the water pressure in sink was a slow stream. When we booked the advertised balcony room was falsehood. We called Expedia to help us get partial refund. First rep was hung up on. Today Expedia tried to reach out again, the manager was rude and said just give us $50. What a slap in the face. WARNING do Not stay here. The rooms DO NOT LOOK LIKE THE ADVERTISED PARTIAL VIEW. Again , we got a patio restaurant in our face. Horrible management, lies on advertising to a different picture, hangs up on you, rude to Expedia who tried to negotiate. Stayed Sun May 17-21, 2026.Stay away!!!

My husband and I booked an interior room and I would not recommend it. Check-in is at 4pm, any minute sooner is $100 charge. The room was not clean. We even did house cleaning and they made the bed, but failed to clean the floors or wipe the sink/bathroom counter. The bed/pillows are not comfortable. The AC barely works and the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything! There is no proper security in the hotel (and I’m not asking for security staff or a door man but you can just walk in and wander the hotel), the hotel room doors don’t close fully behind you. And in order to open the door for your room, you use your key card and jiggle the handle up. Not to mention the staff is not friendly, they don’t even acknowledge you when you walk into the lobby. The ONLY good thing about this place, is the location. The price you pay is not worth it.

I have never written a poor review but considering I paid $1300 for a TWO night stay with partial ocean view I feel compelled to share my experience. I will preface this with saying, shame on me for not reading more of the reviews. Location is excellent. Right on the beach. Walking distance to food. As others have mentioned parking onsite is EXTREMELY tight. If you have a larger suv forget it. Oh and you have to pay for parking when booking your reservation. Cleanliness…yikes. I saw the elevator and said “heck no”. The stairwell has seen better days. I get it’s a beach hotel but appearance matters- even in a stairwell! Mind you we still have not entered the lobby or our room and I’m already thinking, “What did I book?! Should I just take the loss and go elsewhere?” Lobby. Eh. I knew right away we would not be eating breakfast there. Our room at first glance seemed clean. Until we settled in and saw the walls were dirty. The chairs had seen better days (peeling faux leather) and the shower curtain was not only worn looking but had stains. ? For $1300 for 2 nights the hotel should be SPOTLESS. Heck the hotel should be spotless regardless of cost. Also the walls are PAPER THIN. When I say we heard everything from our next door neighbors I mean everything. (Be mindful if staying there with your family.) Our room was also next to the ice maker which was incredibly loud. Since the hallways are open air the doors to the rooms slam shut which is incredibly annoying late at night or early morning. I’d recommend looking elsewhere.

The room itself was clean and nice enough, though not for $400 per night. The housekeeping staff refreshed the room very well. The front desk staff were also very friendly. Parking is rough in the onsite garage; they also offer free parking in the municipal lot A. I would advise starting with that lot; there seemed to be a high risk of your car being hit in the garage. Beach access was fantastic. The pool left much to be desired. It is very small, not heated, and sort of walled off on a corner of the building. As others have noted, the breakfast wasn’t great. It wasn’t bad either, but it really only sufficed. The problem we ran into was the lack of sound proofing on the rooms. Our room adjoined another and it was as if there were no doors. We could hear every word the couple beside us spoke/yelled. We had to call the front desk at 1:30am to ask them to quiet down. To the hotel’s credit, they did call- which we could hear through the walls. Following this, the couple chose to make lewd noises, but we were assured they were leaving the next day. After they checked out, I asked to be moved to a different room that didn’t have an adjoining one. I was assured that no one was checking into the room and the manager put a note on the room. We were not moved. That night, a family with small children checked into the room and we had the pleasure of hearing them scream on and off all night. Additionally, the hallways echo and the doors slam very loudly due to the way their hinges are set, I’m guessing. Either way, this isn’t a place to stay if you anticipate sleeping through the night. I believe this hotel could be a really great experience if they invested in some sound proofing.

Lock the door and it pushes open so you can get a screwdriver or a credit card in to open it. Room was clean, balcony available if you could open the door. Breakfast very minimal. Area is good for walking and dinghy’s was a nice surprise. We had an oceanfront room
