Rooms are on smaller side from the design of hotel. Moved rooms from rust in bathtub and slow draining drain. Request Better views if you request closer to elevator. Only one EV charger and the space is compact and very small. For the price will probably stay at a newer Holiday Inn next time.

The floors in the room were filthy, the TV was burnt out and only showed tints of blue. The location is good, but getting in and out of the parking lot was a bit hectic at times depending on bridge traffic. I notified the staff about the floors and the TV and they assured me it would be fixed, but it never was. Luckily we were barely in the room (really only to sleep and bathe), but the floors were really gross. The whole hotel needs a complete overhaul and renovation. The floor sloped near the window and felt unsafe.

We have stayed at this location many times over the past four years. We loved the retro feel of the rooms, the price and the rooftop restaurant. The last time we were there the end of 2025 it had significantly gone downhill. It needs a restoration. It is now dirty (especially the elevators), drywall cracking, carpets old, bathrooms with paint and trim chipped everywhere, dingy curtains and the parking lot is muddy when it rains. The staff seems uninterested and bothered. This is a Charleston landmark that needs a complete overhaul.

My name is Katie Dalton, and I was recently a guest at the Holiday Inn Charleston-Riverview in Charleston, SC. While I enjoyed the location of the hotel and the amenities provided, there were other incidents that occurred during my stay that I was not content about. I arrived at the hotel on Friday February 13th, 2026, at approximately 8:45 PM. When I entered the parking lot, the parking lot was dark due to no lighting making it difficult for me to bring my luggage into the hotel. When I walked to the front door to check-in, the right entrance door was out of service, but no sign was provided on the door. Furthermore, I continued to walk towards the front counter where no one was there to greet me. I then noticed that the wallpaper near the counter was falling off of the wall. However, the lady that checked me in was nice and accommodating. Once I checked-in, I walked towards the elevator to find that the right elevator was out of service as well. The inside of the elevator also had damaged flooring. I stayed on the eleventh floor in room 1105. When I got off the elevator, I was appalled by what I endured. There was a Corona bottle sitting next to the elevator making the scenery unsightly. I then opened up the door to my room to find it to be outdated and not accurate like the pictures presented online. The lamp shades next to the bed were stained, the bathroom drain came apart, and the lights were dim. Furthermore, I was not impressed with the rooms in the hotel. As far as my comfortability, I had an incident that occurred on Sunday February 15th, 2026, at approximately 12:51 AM. There was a guest that started banging on my door intoxicated. He continued to bang on the door until I opened the door and asked him to please stop. All in all, my stay was not adequate. To further express my concerns, I have attached photos of evidence. Absolutely crazy experience. Stayed here with my husband while he was recuperating from a surgery from the VA. They did not cover the entire stay and we had to pay nearly $600 for 3 nights. Someone had their dog literally loose on the 3rd floor, multiple times, over the span of the entire weekend. When we would open the door to see where the barking was coming from, the dog would be there, growling at us!!! If the dog had jumped on my husband, he would have ripped his stitches out. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Make this make sense. Room was not cleaned properly either. Dirty, sticky floors, stubble on the bathroom counter, dirty bathtub, old food left inside the refrigerator. You can’t control the temperature in the room properly as the controls on the wall do not communicate with the actual unit. Horrible experience for what we had to pay. The VA should not be using this hotel for its patients.

The staff was outstanding! The location excellent. Too bad the building is in desperate need of attention. The place is worn out. Our room was freezing! We had to set the thermostat at 80 just to keep up. The towels were nearly see through. The restaurant, with some of the best views of the city, was so cold, the food got cold before we finished eating it took forever for the shower to get hot enough. Yet amongst all that, the people were diamonds amongst the dust.

I have lived in Charleston my whole life. Grew up passing by the round Holiday Inn. Now that I've moved away and came back to visit I had an excuse to stay there and finally see the inside. I was greeted with a broken lobby door. The other door worked so not a big deal. We get to our room, immediately see the wall outlet has blue paint on it because they couldn't be bothered to remove the covers to paint. White paint specks are on everything. Kleenex container, floor, etc. The baseboards are wavy, looking like they are put on with a sticker and they were sloppy attaching them. The bathroom shower tub has rust spots, the shower curtain keeps wanting to gravitate to the middle because they put in the shower rod so badly it dips in the middle. I had to tie the shower curtain to the towel rack to keep the part closest to the shower head closed in an attempt to keep water off the floor. The grout in the tub looks like a really bad DIY job. Smeared around badly. In fact, DIY describes the room in general. Poor quality materials, poorly skilled job all the way around like a cheap landlord. I am extremely upset that this stay I've been waiting for is this much of a letdown. Such a waste of one of the most unique buildings in Charleston. It's like finally going to Disney and it's a some rickety wood rides and a drunk in a mouse suit.

Tiasha was very patient and attentive at the front desk! I had no phone in my room and when I showed frustration to her she was very kind and patient to accommodate a late check out and understand why I felt the way I did. The location is good and there's enough parking. I also had a large room and was happy with my stay here.

A solid mid?range hotel with clean, comfortable rooms and lovely views of the Ashley River, often praised for friendly staff and a convenient free shuttle to downtown Charleston. The rooftop restaurant and breakfast are highlights. Some guests note dated décor, occasional maintenance issues and traffic noise, but overall it’s a good value just minutes from historic sites.

I attended a Holiday Party for my BNI chapter in their Restaurant on the top floor. It was a private catered event hosted by the Holiday Inn. The food was very good and the service was outstanding. I think I'm going to dream about their red rice! This place is known for its one-of-a-kind view in Charleston, which is true, but the food and service were really great, which makes me highly recommend the Holiday Inn Riverview for catered events and parties.
