I checked into the Hilton Garden Inn in Mount Pleasant, SC on Tuesday, 7/7/26. That same day, $450 was deducted from my bank account. I thought it was unusual since hotels typically place an authorization hold and charge the card at checkout, but I didn't question it. At checkout on 7/10/26, I returned my room keys and asked for a receipt. After a few minutes, the front desk agent returned with an assistant manager (Randy or Ray), who insisted I still owed for my stay. I explained that the $450 had already been deducted from my account on 7/7/26 and tried to show him the transaction on my phone. He refused to look at it, repeatedly interrupted me, and became rude and argumentative, insisting I owed the balance based only on the paperwork he was holding. He even stated that he does this all day and that he knows what he’s doing. I called my bank while standing at the front desk, and the representative even offered to speak with him directly. He refused and returned to the back. The bank confirmed that Hilton was holding the funds and simply needed to claim them rather than charging my card again. The female front desk agent informed me that he was the assistant manager, and because the general manager would not be available until later that afternoon, I had no choice but to continue trying to resolve the issue myself. To avoid causing a disturbance, I moved to the business center and the asst manager comes back out and starts again about the funds owed. I excused myself and went to my car to continue making calls to both Hilton Corporate and my bank. The harassment began. Instead of allowing me to resolve the situation, the assistant manager called me, left a voicemail complaining that I had been gone more than 30 minutes (which I still have the voicemail). My 16-year-old niece went inside to let him know I was still on the phone with my bank, and she also experienced his rude behavior. Minutes later he even came into the parking lot looking for me. After nearly 1½ hours of phone calls and repeated explanations, my bank again confirmed that Hilton already had the funds on hold. All they needed to do was claim them. The bank stated that the last resort was to file a claim on the funds since they stated they were not received by the hotel, which I did. I finally returned inside, the transaction was processed correctly, and I was given a receipt showing a $0 balance. I am convinced that this man would have had a warrant out for my arrest if I had not cleared this up prior to leaving. This was my 1st time visiting the Charleston SC area and this was my ONLY negative experience. I will be back, but will never stay at another Hilton hotel. Just when I thought the matter was finally resolved, on Friday, 7/17/26—one week after checkout—an additional $200 was charged to another card I had used during my stay. This nightmare continues.

We booked a room here through Vrbo, actually ... not sure how that happened but I want to leave a review for the hotel itself because we were SO pleasantly surprised with our accommodations. We decided we wanted to get out of town for a few days at the last minute & lucked out with this reservation. Last minute is not my style usually. The staff was incredibly friendly. Welcomed our pup. No weird smells in the hallways. The room was spotless. The property was quiet. The bed was super comfy. Only piece of advice I'd give would be to put preventative bed bug covers on your mattresses. We're exterminators so we don't bring anything into our room until we check the mattress. No sign of bed bugs here, no worries about that ... but it's the industry standard now to put those covers on so you save yourselves a big headache from any guests who bring their "friends" in with them ... and leave them behind. Do yourself a favor & invest in those. The pool was better than expected, as was the fitness room. We want to come back when it's cooler & we'll definitely stay here again. Close to everything without paying crazy historical district prices.

Stayed here 3 nights. I found the personnel to be friendly. The facility is very clean. The lobby is colorful and inviting. It even has a pool table. Our room was small but comfortable. There's a small fitness room and outdoor pool. Free breakfast which was very good. When we were there, they had pancakes, sausage,

I was here for a family emergency unfortunately not pleasure. My son had to have emergency surgery at MUSC. From the moment we checked in Until the day we left, the staff was very Hospitable, accommodating, pleasant, and informative. My son had his surgery on Monday, June 1st 2026. Upon an hour, return to the hotel, the gentleman in the front and I believe his name was Lamar ran to be of assistance to us. Not only did he help me get my son back to our room. He made sure we had cool drinks and he even offered to help make sure we had his prescriptions. From there, the staff did call and check on us, making sure that we were OK. As a long time, Hilton member, this interaction hit differently although this trip was not pleasure, having a staff that paid attention to the fact that we were not good made all the difference in our stay. For all my son’s future visits to the doctor this is where we will stay. Going through such a tough time and having that level of attention to detail me a very positive impact on me. Owning a business myself, I know the importance of great customer service in this hotel has embodied it.

Very nice hotel. Room was clean and well organized. We had a King bed. Breakfast was good with eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, diced potatoes and a variety of cereals fruits etc. Nice large open lobby and plentiful parking. Randy (Asst General Manager) and his team are friendly and helpful.

Very nice and convenient stay! We checked in very late (around 1AM) but were promptly and kindly welcomed. The room had an odd smell but since it was so late we didn’t bother dealing with it. We did mention it the next afternoon and the staff offered to correct it (somehow) but since we were checking out the next morning, we still didn’t bother with it, it was kind that they offered though! The pool was nice, on the second floor so it had a breeze and the rooms were clean and comfortable. It is in a convenient location to restaurants and shops in Mount Pleasant as well as convenient to all of Charleston. I was worried that the road noise would be loud since it was right by the bridge, but that was not the case. If we’re ever in the area, I would definitely stay again!

I booked a room through booking.com and submitted a request for a date change two days before the scheduled check in. I received notification from booking.com stating that the hotel did not respond to a request to authorize the date change on my stay. I spoke to someone at the hotel who said that I needed to speak with booking.com to make the change since I booked through them. I called booking.com back, and they stated that they made a new request for a date change and made a note about the request I made prior to scheduled check in. The hotel charged me a no show fee in spite of the request for cancellation before the policy’s penalty date. When I spoke with the manager on duty during the hour of 7pm on Saturday, 2/28/26, he stated that booking.com did not communicate with the hotel and that I was billed $199 in spite of all of this (and the request to still do business with the hotel for the following weekend). I got angry when the hotel stated I needed to go back through booking.com, and the manager on duty hung up on me! As a result of the run around, you can forget me attempting to book again now and in the future with booking.com or this particular location. Poor customer service and a failure to see that updating my booking date and not charging a no show would earn future sales vs. keeping my money for a no show when I requested a change days before scheduled check in. So short sighted! Your folks need better training!

Nice room but terrible customer service. Got in late around midnight and was sure to let them know i would be arriving late. Arrive after driving and front desk staff was cleaning tables in the lobby and didn’t even stop to greet us. I waited at desk to get a couple hard keys and she didn’t even stop to come get them for us but continued to wipe table tops off and said I’ll be with you in a few minutes. After driving all night the last thing you want to do is wait for someone to wipe off table tops. Then get to the room and toilet doesn’t flush and there is zero body wash in the shower. Asked for a late check out and was told there was none available. Late check out should always be available for Gold Rewards members. The management needs to do better at this location.

Been staying here for several years in January. First time entire breakfast not always open -depends on occupancy. Charge for parking now. Bathroom had a very strong odor. Noticed downstairs ladies room had only one sink working out of three. Were here for four nights. Management gave points for my complaints.

Very nice hotel, decorated nicely for Christmas. Front desk help were both sparky individuals and somewhat difficult to deal with. Lisa didn't seem to know her job very well or was just overwhelmed and missed important details about our booking/stay. We were charged too much, which should have been noticed at check in instead of at check out with a big problem to deal with then. Many other guests were held up from checking out for quite a while due to this issue. Very unprofessional! Room was very nice -clean, comfortable, poor view, nice modern bathroom. Breakfast was amazing. One of the best we experienced while traveling. Real eggs!! Nice! Very quiet in an upscale area. Very nice one night stay!! Except for poor attitude and lazy customer service from Lisa-Front Desk...so unnecessary....
