This Hampton Inn in Charleston's historic district offers a prime location with easy access to downtown attractions and reliable service, though recent guests have raised concerns about maintenance issues, occasionally aggressive parking fees, and a noticeable lack of room updates amidst a few negative incidents regarding guest property.
Solid hotel choice in historic Charleston. Staff was super friendly. Free breakfast was great and more than just continental options. 24 hour coffee available in the lobby. Great location close to many sights with a DASH/Carta stop across the street along with the Charleston visitor center and Charlotte Museum. Would definitely recommend and would stay here again if I come back to Charleston.
Nice, clean and great service. There is some good places around but can get crowded. Your typical breakfast bar, food was fresh, well stocked and kept clean. Waffle mix was really good and im not a big waffle eater. Would definitely stay again.
I am currently staying at this property. I checked in last Thursday and am staying through tomorrow. I visited family over the weekend and did not stay at the hotel although I remained checked in and paying for my room. I left several personal items in my room and that have all been taken, including an expensive piece of clothing. I brought to attention of the hotel last evening and I have yet to have a resolution to this problem. The general manager has not reached out to me. I did not have my clothes to wear to my work conference today and yet the hotel has not done enough to show that they are disturbed by this occurrence. The items were not found in the lost and found which is very concerning. I would consider these disturbing facts before choosing to stay at this hotel.
We were greeted with a welcoming smile at both check-in and check-out by Matt—he is truly an asset to the property. Thank you, Matt!! The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast offered lots of variety, was served hot, and the staff stayed on top of keeping everything fresh and well stocked. The location is a huge plus, especially for those attending concerts at the Charleston Music Hall—it’s right next door! Highly recommend this hotel, and we will definitely be returning for a future stay!
Good location, but unfortunately very poor maintenance. During my stay, the shower valve got stuck in the ON position in the morning. Maintenance came, but the repair was clearly temporary and poorly done. The same problem happened again at night, causing unnecessary disturbance and inconvenience. This is disappointing for a Hampton property. The location is good, but the lack of proper maintenance makes it not worth the stay. There are better options nearby.
Very nice hotel and staff which is located less then a mile from Market street. We found it an easy walk to get to Market. They have a nice courtyard for the dogs to be walked in. The pool was closed for the season but looked nice. Plenty of restaurants near by and the vistor center is close. There is a free shuttle that stops across the street.
The hampton inn and the historic district is just a terrific hotel hands down. it's reasonable, reliable and exactly what one needs when staying in charleston. for business, I had business acquaintances that stated this hotel and they were very impressed by the reasonable price, comfortable beds and of course, great customer service we all i'm at the hotel.Got a uber and headed out to blum coffee and wine bar, which we had the time of our lives.Having nightcaps. then, we went out to eat and it was just a perfect finishing touch to a terrific evening.
Hotel was outdated (in a non-charming way). We had no A/C for the first night and half of the second day, shower didn't drain properly, bathroom faucet leaked the entire time no matter what we did. The parking was $41/day, and with the stay being so poor we checked out a day early and we didn't even get the parking for that day refunded. Staff was friendly and the location was great - only reason I gave it 2 stars. UPDATE: Hotel read my post-stay survey and refunded the parking fee. Their service is still great, just really need to update their hotel.
This is my go-to hotel when visiting Charleston. It meets my needs with a great location. I appreciate the free breakfast, and the staff are great. It does need some updates but it is clean. During my most recent stay, my room (227) was a bit disappointing. The view sucked and included what looked like a bird carcass. I also kept hearing banging noises near the door that I couldn't figure out the cause. I'll hope for better my next trip.
Good location, walking distance to all you could need. No fridge in room. Walls pretty thin, can hear next doors shower. Breakfast buffet same as any other. Old AC controls with no instruction, could take a while to work out.
