The Inn at Middleton Place offers a beautiful and historic setting with easy access to Middleton Place and stunning gardens. Guests consistently praise the scenic location, exceptional service, and delicious food options, while some have noted maintenance issues and safety concerns related to room security.
One of our favorite places to stay. Beautiful scenery and access to the plantation. Love the rooms with their floor to ceiling windows and fireplace. Food at the lake house and restaurant are delicious. Quiet outside of the city but close enough to be in the hustle and bustle within minutes.
Stayed here with my husband and two year old from 10/19/25 till 10/21/25. The property is absolutely stunning, all the privacy, tranquility and nature you want. The inn does offer access to the Middleton place, which is convenient (withing the price). The hotel does offer a very good breakfast included in the price. The views are exceptional, with the access to the lake. They are offering a cheese/fruit plate from 5 to 7 p.m. (no cost). The restaurant on the property offers a various menu. I have been previously there approx 4 years ago, the star of the menu always has been the grits and shrimp, they used to be better, now is more of a soupy grits for $24.....The hotel itself is not properly equipped for kids safety as the locks are easily accessible and there is an additional chain above with no reciever. My toddler was able to open the door and run into the woods many times. There are roaches and bugs in the room as well. I was awoken at night by rats within the walls. When I mentioned there details at the checkout, the feedback was "Ok, I will let the management know ". Not sure I would return any time soon....
Location is excellent being next to middle place with direct walking access. Unfortunately the rooms show their age and lack of maintenance. We stayed with a two year old toddler and found the door to our room had a security chain but no receiver to lock it in. Very unsafe for a toddler that in the blink of an eye could open the door and run outside just feet away from a swampy pond We where told a new company bought the property and slowly making improvements but basic thinks like cleaning the paths are not done. Same for the beautiful patio terrace where breakfast is served, covered in leaves and unkept .Come on guys, you are not a Motel 6 and surely don't charge like one, will take 5 minutes for someone to swipe the area before breakfast time. Same for the paths, quick job for a leaf blower. Quite disappointing!!!
Wonderful location with access to Middleton Place by foot. Breakfast was outstanding. Our room had a strong mildew smell and occasional other odors. I have seen this complaint elsewhere. If that could.be resolved, a solid 5 star. Architecture is worth seeing.
Loved coming back here for our 20th wedding anniversary! We very much enjoyed the snacks and drinks in the Lodge chatting with Christy or Lucas every evening after spending days out and about on the lovely property. Noticed several recent room updates, including the great rainhead shower and room service for breakfast. Our one and only disappointment was that those truly delicious, creamy and golden, Southern stone-ground grits were nowhere to be found on the morning menu, not even for special requests!! Travelers can get continental breakfasts anywhere, any day of the week. Middleton Inn is better than standard fare... Please bring back the heart of a traditional Southern breakfast!
We stayed in the Ashley River Suite, and there was only one other couple staying at the time we were there. Most hotels won't provide their best service on nights when they have few reservations, but the Inn staff still treated us extremely well! All amenities - cheese and drinks before dinner, full buffet breakfast and personalized service- were set out just for us. The accommodations were beyond compare! The room was one-of-a-kind - beautifully and comfortably appointed, with a wrap-around balcony overlooking the river and grounds. The bathtub was the size of a small swimming pool, with plenty of hot water and the most luxurious bath products and towels! The champagne and chocolates provided a lovely after dinner treat! Such an amazing stay!
this place is amazing! Beautiful scenery and an overall zen experience. Wonderful grounds, breakfast and room. We were here 29 years ago on our honeymoon and will not wait that long again to have such a relaxing getaway.
Beautiful, modern hotel. Outdoor pool available. Rooms have very nice two head showers. Each room has a fireplace available for use in the winter. The stay included a garden tour and breakfast. The gorgeous gardens are within walking distance and fun to explore. We would definitely stay again!
My husband and I had a wonderful 7-day stay at the Inn — easily the best decision of our trip. The room had a cozy scent of burned wood, beautiful views of the lake, and thoughtful daily cleaning with quality toiletries and bottled water in the fridge. The bed and closet were a bit small for two, and there were some bugs on the exterior windows, but that’s to be expected when surrounded by nature. Breakfast was delicious and consistent, with a nice variety: eggs, bacon, grits, fruit, cereal, yogurt, pastries, and even gluten-free toast and English muffins for my celiac husband — a big plus! We also loved the happy hour cheese board and the nightcap at the lodge. The staff were fantastic — warm and attentive. The gardens were stunning, with lakes, sheep grazing freely, and even a few alligators. The Inn also thoughtfully honors its harsh history with slavery through stories, displays, and tours that promote reflection and remembrance. We highly recommend this place — peaceful, beautiful, and rich in history.
This hotel offers a truly charming Southern experience. Nestled within a beautiful property, it provides a tranquil escape surrounded by nature. Wake up to the sounds of birdsong, rustling leaves and enjoy the sight of beautiful flowers. The property itself is beautifully landscaped with ancient oak trees, colorful flower gardens, a tranquil pond. The hotel's architecture and decor reflect classic Southern charm, creating a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Whether you're looking for a peaceful getaway or a base for exploring the surrounding area, this hotel offers a delightful blend of comfort and natural beauty. Imagine sipping your morning coffee on a porch swing, surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Southern countryside. It's the perfect place to unwind and reconnect with nature.
