The Dunlin - Auberge offers a luxurious and upscale experience on Kiawah Island, boasting beautifully designed rooms, a serene atmosphere, and convenient amenities like a spa and car service. While praised for its aesthetics and attentive service, some guests have expressed concerns regarding dining options and occasional service inconsistencies.
We had a tremendous stay at the dunlin this week. The rooms are beautiful and well designed. The staff were friendly and attentive but with a welcomed light touch. The restaurant was great - actually great food that is worth the trip if you are in the area. The resort is small boutique format and is actually high end by any objective standard. We moved over to the sanctuary on kiawah to be directly on the beach and i greatly regret the move. The Dunlin is a legit luxury hotel with high standards and high execution. I recommend emphatically
We came for our honeymoon and it was amazing, Mary and Julia at the pool were absolutely incredible, Caroline at the main office was the best host we could imagine. Excellent service, amazing vibes, and even better food. At Linette’s Sophia took care of us and was so fun and helped us celebrate. Couldn’t ask for a better honeymoon destination 10/10 will return!
My husband and I had an amazing weekend stay. The rooms are beautiful and clean. Linnette’s was amazing. In particular, our server Ellery was unreal. We sat at the bar while she waited on us and served the restaurant and didn’t miss a beat - super impressive. We also got two great days relaxing by the pool. It was SO beautiful and Mary was so charming and attentive — highly recommend!
To preface, I am Forbes hotel trained, worked at Chatham Bars Inn and have been a member at Wychmere Harbor Beach Club for 25+ years, a Longwood events venue, and have stayed at a few Auberge hotels. If want to be treated like you are having the most meaningful day to your young life, avoid this Auberge. I got married at the Dunlin on June 21, 2025. I was overcharged by 100k, only upon my lawyers seeing it, was it refunded. None of my meal, drink, cake, seating, or any choices were written down or honored. I was passed on to 3 different Dunlin wedding coordinators. An influencer staying the same weekend as my wedding got free baskets and amenities sent to her room, meanwhile I spent over 100k in rooms alone and was not given a single free amenity until i complained to the general manager and it was rectified. The location, beauty, and luxuriousness of The Kiawah River and Auberge name does not make up for the lack of consideration of the Dunlin Team.
We celebrated an 80th birthday with the family for several days at The Dunlin. It was our first time to the property (pretty new property). Beautiful location especially for those that appreciate the gorgeous South Carolina coastline and wildlife. We had some truly tasty meals and cocktails. The rooms were impressive and we enjoyed several of their outdoor activities. Great experience and will certainly be going back.
Amazing place! We went for our babymoon. They were so conscious of the fact we had a baby coming. Ava was an amazing host! Wish I remembered the servers name at the pool because he was on top of his game. Amazing place we cannot wait to come back as a family.
We recently stayed at The Dunlin, Auberge Resort for our babymoon and left feeling completely relaxed and grateful. The property is stunning — serene, beautifully designed, and perfect for a peaceful coastal escape. From the moment we arrived, the thoughtful touches stood out: a complimentary bottle of non-alcoholic sparkling wine, a handwritten note, and the sweetest goat stuffed animal waiting in our room. Our suite felt luxurious yet comfortable — we especially loved the in-room tub and fireplace. The Astor Spa was a highlight. It’s calm, immaculate, and thoughtfully designed, and our massages were the perfect addition to a restful stay. We also enjoyed the heated pool and hot tub, fire pits, and easy access to water activities. Being able to text the concierge directly and use the complimentary Mercedes-Benz service made everything seamless. Dining at Linnette’s was excellent — warm service and beautifully prepared dishes (don’t skip the goat ice cream). Overall, the staff was welcoming and attentive, and the atmosphere felt polished yet relaxed. We would absolutely return — next time with our kids and our dog. If you’re looking for a refined, peaceful Lowcountry retreat, The Dunlin delivers.
Absolutely amazing experience. The setting is stunning. The housekeeping perfect. The food delicious. And great programming. All of the team members were gracious and provided luxury experience without being ostentatious. Thank you for your hospitality!
Had a wonderful vacation here at the Dunlin. The property is exceptional down to every detail. The friendly service, the design of the rooms, the local snacks and drinks in the rooms, the complimentary vehicles, the food at the restaurant, the walking paths, the farm tour, the pools, the views and I could go on. I look forward to coming back again and exploring the property and its offerings more.
We went to The Dunlin for dinner last night and found the overall experience to be disappointing. We looked at the menu prior to making a reservation and judging by the prices, we expected fine dining. It is not! The dining room is loud and the decor is cold and cottage like, but not in a good way. The food was "b" quality but the prices suggested otherwise. We ordered the local catch and the field peas with bacon that came with it were dry and the bacon overcooked. Service was ok! I would go to the Jasmine Porch on Kiawah or drive downtown to Chez Nous or SNOB before dining at The Dunlin.
