The SpringHill Suites Charleston Riverview receives mixed reviews, with some praising its location, cleanliness, and comfortable rooms, particularly its spaciousness and comfortable beds. However, recent concerns center around bed bugs and overall cleanliness issues, including mold, outdated facilities, and unpleasant odors. Value is considered good, especially considering its proximity to downtown Charleston.
Location and service was great What gives this hotel a 1 star is that it has bed bugs - I've never dealt with them ever in my life so honestly I've never prechecked a hotel bed for them - now I know. If you are staying there please take a look at the sheets and if there are any circle stains that are rust colored - potential that there are bed bugs Also, I didn't realize that the bites don't appear necessarily right away like an ant or spider bite might. Mine started showing up on my flight home on the last day - the bites go in a line - Now you know ?
The room was a suite but where the beds were there wasn’t much room. The couch and kitchenette area was spacious. The ac didn’t cool like it should. The lady’s who checked me in and out was super friendly and helpful. We booked this hotel on a recommendation from the hospital.
The hotel has been through a very nice refurnishing. The beds are very clean and comfy. Water pressure in the showers is perfect. The breakfast is fantastic (unlimited bacon). And the staff is so friendly. It's really easy to get to the hospital if you're staying for a patient like we were. We will be glad to stay at this hotel again.
Our stay at SpringHill Suites Riverview Charleston was unacceptable due to the overall lack of cleanliness throughout the hotel and especially in our room. Upon arrival, it was immediately obvious that the room had not been properly cleaned. The toilet was filthy, with urine visible on the seat and on the bathroom floor. The bedding was also dirty. The sheets and comforter had visible stains and clearly had not been changed. When the air conditioning kicked on, there was a strong moldy smell coming from the unit. The carpets in the hallway were visibly dirty, and there were sticky spots on the floor that made the room feel even more unsanitary. Unfortunately, the unpleasant odor was not limited to our room. There was a noticeable stench throughout the hotel. The staff was not rude, but they were also not friendly or apologetic. There was no sense of concern or accountability regarding the condition of the room, and they did not appear bothered that we were placed in such a disgusting environment. This is not a minor housekeeping issue. Basic sanitation is the bare minimum expectation for a hotel, and this property failed that standard completely. We did not feel comfortable using the bathroom or sleeping in the bed. Photos are attached because the condition of the room speaks for itself. I would not recommend this hotel and will not stay here again.
Very nice large lobby with comfortable seating areas. Was offered a warm cookie at check-in which was a nice touch. My room was very clean, large, and had a very comfortable bed. Overall great experience and would stay here again if I am in town.
It is a beautiful hotel! Very clean and chic! Check in was easy and was able to check in early! I came with my best friend for her birthday and wanted to have a sign up for her in the room that I bought. I wasn’t going to have time to hang it. Tiffany and Darrel were very helpful and helped me while we were out and put the sign up and some balloons! Service is amazing and enjoying our stay. Thank you thank you!
Do not waste your money. The only good thing about this place is the location. We needed a place close to the hospital. Staff is rude, except for the young lady who was working all by herself with an injured ankle/ walking boot. The hallway carpets are filthy on that second floor. The room was clean, but upgrades are needed x 10. We will not return. We should have read the reviews closer. Especially the reviews with pictures. We were in one of those exact rooms & nothing has changed.
This is a solid Marriott property. We were in a bind and needed to stay one more night in Charleston and this was available. The staff was pleasant, the hotel was clean, it had a nice lobby, there was a good breakfast abd the water pressure in the shower was good. The room was clean, large and comfortable, but a bit dated and it had a strange layout. However, we were overall satisfied with our stay.
This is a great hotel! I didn’t want to break the bank visiting Charleston, and this was such a wonderful option. The staff was incredibly friendly, greeting us with welcome bags and open arms. The room was spotless, and housekeeping was attentive and thorough. My favorite perk was the free breakfast! It’s just a quick ride into downtown Charleston, which made it super convenient. Thank you again to the fantastic staff for a wonderful stay!
Beware this hotel smells of mold and is outdated. The front desk, breakfast staff and maids were all incredible helpful and kind. The lobby was clean and well kept. It wasn’t until I got into the elevator and reached the 4th floor that the entire space smelled of mold. My room was the worst. Stains on the couch, bathroom is old/discolored, and the smell of mildew filled the room. I was here for a work trip for a night so I tried to spend as little time as possible in the room. The breakfast was good and what you’d expect. Overall while the room was moldy. I loved the area and went on a long walk down the walking trail which once was the railroad between Charleston and Savannah. Please clean and fix the smell of the room. It’s likely unsafe for guests to be breathing the mold in.
