The Seaside Inn offers a convenient beachfront location on Isle of Palms, South Carolina, but receives mixed reviews regarding cleanliness and overall value. While praised for its proximity to the beach and friendly staff, recent guests have reported issues with noise, outdated rooms, and inconsistent service.
We had no problems staying here on a Monday and Tuesday night. Rooms were clean. Quick jaunt down to the beach. Everyone was really kind. You cant directly see the beach from most rooms but walk down the hall and there it is. Such a beautiful view. Would definitely stay again. :)
Super loud at night due to a live band next door, the rooms are super small. They screwed the balcony doors shut so you cant use them, the lights that come on at night are so obnoxiously bright, the curtains and shutters dont block the light out, so sleeping is out...using the balcony is out...the bed was old and lumpy, the mattress pad wasn't washed, the risne off hose for your feet in the back didn't work, the breakfast was all cheap carbs, I was very very disappointed in how overpriced they are for such low standards they have. Never again!
I rarely go through the hassle of writing reviews; however, after my experience at Seaside Inn, I felt compelled to. The first impression of our room was the unpleasant smell when we walked in, and unfortunately, things only escalated from there. The room was extremely dilapidated, to say the least. The bathroom had holes I. The walls from old fixtures, and although the shower itself did not appear dirty, the tile was cracked and coming apart. Another major inconvenience was the bathroom light switch being located outside the bathroom and the microwave was broken. What truly disappointed me, though, was the filth underneath the beds. After slightly moving one while searching for my shoe, I found unswept sand and forgotten socks from previous guests. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. I paid a little over $400 per night to stay here. I understand this is a 3-star hotel, but I still expected basic cleanliness and properly maintained rooms. Location and proximity to the beach is great but I’d recommend spending your money at some of the other hotels.
This place is perfect if you're looking for a Nice, clean place to sleep just steps from the ocean. The room neat and tidy. The breakfast and coffee was typical, probably more than I was expecting.
Because of the concerts next door, it is very loud until at least 11pm, including some hours in the afternoon. If you are looking for a quiet hotel, that is not the place to stay. Location is good but rooms are very small and rundown. They are called Deluxe but they are definitively very basic. Microwave was missing. Not table, no chair in the room! Prices are not cheap and we definitively did not get our money worth, despite a friendly crew. $100 were asked for an early checkin! We will definitively look for another place next time we come to Isle of Palms.
Incredibly underwhelming and not at all in line with expectations for the price paid per night. King Deluxe room was nothing more than a dated motel room. No chair, no desk, and no place to sit other than the toilet or the bed. Floor tiles were cracked and stained. Rust was on most metal surfaces. Property is very dated and is in need of some serious improvement. Parking was a joke. They have about 12 parking spaces on property and THREE overflow parking lots. Two of the three nights, the closest overflow lot was also full because of the bar patrons in the area. There are only three things this property has going for it: 1) Jack, the awesome employee at the front desk. Incredibly nice and tried very hard to make guests happy. 2) The automatic pancake machine. By far, the newest and most impressive thing on property. 3) The location. It is on the water, but the room views are limited.
This is our second year staying here for thanksgiving, we love coming to sea side inn. Staff is extremely nice and the location is awesome. Coconut Joes is a high recommendation. Area is very active at night but hotel is quiet which is a plus. Very dog friendly and easy to walk dogs around property/beach access. Thanks Angel and Phoenix for the awesome customer service!! :)
Our first and LAST stay here. AVOID if you are looking for a family friendly, peaceful and quiet place. I gave 1 star ONLY for the beach location BUT the bar next door was disturbing and extremely loud.
Seaside is a great place in Isle of Palms. Just a stroll to food at several places. The beach is just steps away or sit on the balcony all day long. Music comes at you on both sides at Windjammer and another restaurant close by but not disturbing. Love Seaside
Overall 4 out of 5. Parking is tight- have to get there right at check in or a little early to get a spot. Basic Breakfast in the lobby, no eggs, just coffee milk toast bagels. The rooms are nice, not elegant or fancy. Its a motel on the beach! Hardwoord floors with refrigerators and microwave. Floors get sandy due to being at the beach. If you have a east facing room, i advise you to bring a blanket or sheet to cover the window. The window shade works but that sun in bright and will show through. We read reviews ahead of time. Showers are nice, not huge. Bathroom was fine, standard. 3 decks, room entrances are from the outside. Ice maker on all floors, towel bins at at the Lobby. Has a small pool on the 2-3rd levels. The hotel is right next to the VFw and The Windjammer. The Windjammer has music concerts on their sand volleyball court. We saw Edwin McCain on 7/3/25. We have stayed here twice now and we have NOT had a bad experience. We stay for a couple nights at a time. Is it spendy? Kind of but they have their own beach access with a shower for rinsing off. The location is amazing. Small island, close to grocery, liquor and gas. Overall, 5 out of 5 for both visits.
