The Residence Inn by Marriott Charleston Riverview receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its location, comfortable beds, and helpful staff, particularly Trinton Porter. However, recurring concerns include issues with cleanliness, outdated facilities, and inconsistent staff service, especially at the front desk. Recent renovations are needed to address persistent maintenance problems.
Stayed here for just a single night and would stay here again. It was quiet, clean, and relaxing. The customer service was great as well - Dominique with the front desk was more than accommodating. I had multiple interactions with her! My morning was kind of chaotic, and she met / assisted me with all of my needs with so much kindness! I’m a Marriott loyal customer and it’s not that often the front desk team is as great as Dominique!
This hotel needs to invest in some serious renovations. We booked the day before our travel as it was last minute and were only able to get a queen studio. The price we paid was extremely high but didnt have much choice so we went ahead and did it. We arrived late at night and the night attendant was helpful. Room was sub-par and honestly crap. The bed was literally broken. I cant be sure but I felt like were fleas that bit us through the night. The pillows and blankets reminded me of the 80's. The bathroom had seen better days. We had booked for three nights, but after one night I made a run for it. Luckily the hotel next door was newer, much nicer (no kitchens though) and a bit cheaper. I normally dont write reviews, but in this case the experience was so bad I wanted to pass it along. Full disclosure a family member had a double suite room and was pleased with it.
Marriott Charleston Riverview is an ideal choice for those visiting Charleston or Folly Beach as the location is ideal without the steep price of downtown hotels. We were able to easily drive to Folly Beach for a day of Beach walking and hanging out on the pier. Surprisingly, there is little street noise for the close proximity to a major access point to the city. A small marina is nearby which allows viewing of docked boats as well as those sailing the river. The staff is friendly and seem happy ensuring guests feel welcome. The hotel is well-maintained with comfortable beds and very clean bathrooms. The only recommendations I have would be to remove the dated popcorn ceilings in the rooms and modify bathtubs to a walk-in showers. Highy recommend and we would stay again!
We recently stayed here (2 suites with several family members for a short weekend vacation), and overall had a very nice time. Free onsite parking with a short Uber ride to downtown. Carpets in the rooms definitely need to be cleaned though - when I took my shoes off the carpet floor felt sticky (rooms 211 and 216). Nice outdoor pool, fun for the kids. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind and helpful, as was the lady at the breakfast area. Breakfast was pretty good but waffle maker is way, way outdated and really makes sub-par waffles which are not crispy at all - please do everyone a favor and invest in a new waffle maker ?? Thanks a lot.
Great hotel, and an amazing value better than the hotel and the value is an associate that goes by the name of Trinton Porter. He genuinely embodies the spirit to serve and made all the difference this morning when I woke up at 5 o’clock, had no coffee in my room. I went down to the front desk and Trinton Took the matters into his own hand and solve the problem by finding an unoccupied room and Using the coffee maker, surprised and delighted me with two fresh brewed cups of coffee. Thank you, Trinton for going above and beyond to ensure the genuine care and comfort of your guests, you made a big difference as I was in a major car accident on way to hotel and couldn’t sleep. Thank you
This hostel has good clean rooms in a two story elevator hotel. Check in was efficient and professional. Free on-site parking is helpful. Close proximity to downtown Charleston was nice too. Breakfast was understaffed for the number of guests the day in was there. Definitely recommend a car if staying at this hotel. I wasn't there long enough comment on the kitchen appliances or wares.
It was a short stay 1-2 days. The staff was very helpful, pleasant. Avis, Jerry, Trenton, and the kitchen breakfast staff are the best. You ask for something they did their best. The room Was clean and nice. But the shower tub was small, rounded, and tight at the bottom, which made it hard to stand and unsafe, very slippery, and also had no shelf to place your soap or shampoo. Also, the exhaust in the bathroom was dirty and didn't work. But overall a good stay, free parking and free decent breakfast.
This hotel was perfect for us because it’s pet friendly. We booked last minute, and the staff still made it easy and accommodated us without any hassle. The studio was exactly what we needed, the bed was very comfortable, Free breakfast
Gross, old, awful. Do not stay here!!!! My room had no heat. Froze my butt off on the first night. Property is very old and not very nice, nor very clean. Located in ugly, industrial, and run down part of Charleston. Did not feel very safe here. Find another hotel in different part of town. The only good part of my stay was breakfast was delicious.
Stayed in room 118 (12/7-12/8). Arrived around 1:30pm. Unfortunately, the front desk staff was NOT friendly and inviting. Most of the time they were in a closed door office. The breakfast nook attendant was kind and friendly. She was the only staff member that smiled and appeared to be happy. Stepped into room and there was a foul odor in the air. Maintenance and cleanliness are below Marriott standards. Please do better.
