The Residence Inn by Marriott Charleston Riverview receives mixed reviews, with some guests praising its pet-friendly nature, comfortable beds, and convenient location. However, recurring concerns include cleanliness issues, outdated amenities, particularly in the breakfast area, and inconsistent staff interactions. Recent reviews highlight problems with roach infestations and a lack of proactive maintenance.
We recently stayed here (2 suites with several family members for a short weekend vacation), and overall had a very nice time. Free onsite parking with a short Uber ride to downtown. Carpets in the rooms definitely need to be cleaned though - when I took my shoes off the carpet floor felt sticky (rooms 211 and 216). Nice outdoor pool, fun for the kids. The gentleman at the front desk was very kind and helpful, as was the lady at the breakfast area. Breakfast was pretty good but waffle maker is way, way outdated and really makes sub-par waffles which are not crispy at all - please do everyone a favor and invest in a new waffle maker ?? Thanks a lot.
Great hotel, and an amazing value better than the hotel and the value is an associate that goes by the name of Trinton Porter. He genuinely embodies the spirit to serve and made all the difference this morning when I woke up at 5 o’clock, had no coffee in my room. I went down to the front desk and Trinton Took the matters into his own hand and solve the problem by finding an unoccupied room and Using the coffee maker, surprised and delighted me with two fresh brewed cups of coffee. Thank you, Trinton for going above and beyond to ensure the genuine care and comfort of your guests, you made a big difference as I was in a major car accident on way to hotel and couldn’t sleep. Thank you
This hostel has good clean rooms in a two story elevator hotel. Check in was efficient and professional. Free on-site parking is helpful. Close proximity to downtown Charleston was nice too. Breakfast was understaffed for the number of guests the day in was there. Definitely recommend a car if staying at this hotel. I wasn't there long enough comment on the kitchen appliances or wares.
It was a short stay 1-2 days. The staff was very helpful, pleasant. Avis, Jerry, Trenton, and the kitchen breakfast staff are the best. You ask for something they did their best. The room Was clean and nice. But the shower tub was small, rounded, and tight at the bottom, which made it hard to stand and unsafe, very slippery, and also had no shelf to place your soap or shampoo. Also, the exhaust in the bathroom was dirty and didn't work. But overall a good stay, free parking and free decent breakfast.
This hotel was perfect for us because it’s pet friendly. We booked last minute, and the staff still made it easy and accommodated us without any hassle. The studio was exactly what we needed, the bed was very comfortable, Free breakfast
Gross, old, awful. Do not stay here!!!! My room had no heat. Froze my butt off on the first night. Property is very old and not very nice, nor very clean. Located in ugly, industrial, and run down part of Charleston. Did not feel very safe here. Find another hotel in different part of town. The only good part of my stay was breakfast was delicious.
Stayed in room 118 (12/7-12/8). Arrived around 1:30pm. Unfortunately, the front desk staff was NOT friendly and inviting. Most of the time they were in a closed door office. The breakfast nook attendant was kind and friendly. She was the only staff member that smiled and appeared to be happy. Stepped into room and there was a foul odor in the air. Maintenance and cleanliness are below Marriott standards. Please do better.
I booked a room. There were not any available parking places when we checked in. The receptionist was not instantly available when I checked in, though he was helpful checking me in. I thought it was going to be a good stay, until we got into the room. When we opened the door, we found about 10 cockroaches all over the floor and kitchen area. I thought maybe it was restricted to just the room but when I went downstairs to adjust the room I saw many many more on the floor and in the elevator even. It was extremely disturbing and there is no excuse for a hotel of this brand name to be such very poor quality. Upon reading reviews here I trust that Ted Wackler will say he is sorry that we had this experience and that house keeping will do a better job. I would say, Ted, that cleaning is one aspect but extermination is another and that falls on hotel management. I think this whole experience was one of the worst ones I have had in a Marriott in recent years. You need to do better. I am unlikely to ever ever return to this city and honestly after this event, it may take a bit to return to the brand. Quality really has degraded. You may contact me directly by looking up my customer information. Room 302 for 11.22.2025. Apologies of words are not very meaningful. What was supposed to be a chance to rest after a long journey came to a disaster in my opinion.
Unacceptable! I recently had a transplant. This particular motel is close to MUSC. Ideal location recommended by patient services. It is a Marriott. My room is on the 1st floor. My view generators and ac units. Very loud. You can hear people's conversations clearly. Inside my room light from door not closing , toilet that runs periodically. Rust and over spray on the door hinges. When the ac comes on noisy. I asked if were given the worse room because of a discount? I could go on, their is much more. Do not stay here! Horrible experience
I let the property know of my plans to propose to my girlfriend prior to arrival. The staff went above and beyond to upgrade our room, consistently check accommodations, provide a more than welcoming atmosphere, and importantly, maintain the element of surprise. Ted is a shining example of what a property manager should be. His kindness and hospitality is clearly a standard set for the team at this property and a steadfast reminder of why I am a Titanium Elite Member. As we have returned home, I find myself recapping the incredible hotel stay more than some of the events of our trip. Should we ever return to Charleston, (and we will) we will be staying at this property hands down. Cheers to Ted and the entire staff for making such a incredible stay and for all that you have done to make our engagement special!
