Had a fantastic stay at the Residence Inn on Isle of Palms. The property is in a great location on the island, making it easy to get to the beach, restaurants, and everything around Isle of Palms. The rooms are spacious, clean, and thoughtfully designed, and the full kitchen is a great feature if you’re staying for more than a night or two. Everything felt modern and well maintained. What really stood out was the service. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout the entire stay. You can tell the team takes pride in the property and making sure guests have a great experience.

I had to get some allergy medicine from the hotel. I had cash and exact change, but the person on duty said it would be easier to charge it to the room. Easier for who? It wasn't convenient for me because the room was under my friends name, not mine. I didn't like that he didn't give me the option to pay with the cash I had. Next time, I won't be so lazy and will just got to the pharmacy.

Parents Beware – Serious Safety Concern at Marriott Residence Inn Charleston/Mount Pleasant ?? We stayed here for a softball tournament because it was listed as a “recommended hotel” on grouphousing.net, and I feel it’s important to warn other parents. While our girls were swimming at the pool, an older intoxicated man stood at the gate watching them and appeared to be recording them on his phone. He then approached one of our players offering to trade a cigarette for her ball. Later, he approached girls from another team asking if they wanted cigarettes or if they wanted to come pet his dog. Understandably, the children were upset and parents were alarmed. Police were called and statements were taken, but shockingly, the hotel refused to trespass him. We were told he is staying there for several months on a government contract with the naval base, so management chose to allow him to remain despite multiple reports from youth teams. This is not a safe environment for children. The hotel knowingly allowed a man exhibiting predatory behavior to remain on property, prioritizing his long-term contract over the safety of dozens of kids. If you are booking through grouphousing.net or for any youth tournament, please reconsider. No family should ever have to worry about their children being approached by a predator at a hotel marketed to sports teams.

We booked this hotel for a softball tournament and our experience was extremely disappointing. We originally reserved from Friday through Sunday but added Thursday. The first room we were given had no working AC. Maintenance came up, but due to a language barrier we weren’t able to explain the issue, and we were eventually moved to another room. The next day, we were told we had to switch rooms because the hotel was overbooked. We packed everything again, only to find that the AC in the new room also didn’t work. After another trip to the front desk, we were moved yet again. As platinum members, we’ve never had this many issues with rooms at any property before. Unfortunately, the most concerning part of our stay wasn’t even the multiple room changes—it was what happened at the pool. While our team of girls was swimming, an older intoxicated man was lingering around the gate, watching them. He took out his phone and appeared to be recording them, and at one point he approached a child, offering to trade a cigarette for her ball. Later, he returned and asked children from another team if they wanted cigarettes or to come pet his dog. At that point we contacted the police, who took statements. Shockingly, the hotel refused to trespass him, meaning he was allowed to stay on the property despite multiple reports from different youth teams. This was unacceptable. There were several teams staying here—softball and volleyball—spending good money, and yet the hotel chose to turn a blind eye to a man behaving like a predator around children. While the front desk clerk on duty was very kind and professional, he was clearly limited by management’s decisions. We left this stay beyond disappointed—not only by the repeated room issues, but by the hotel’s failure to protect the safety of their guests, especially children.

I got a room for my daughter and I, and my close family friend had another room with her and her daughter. Had one issue at check in with pricing. Online price was reasonable, but there was an insane amount of tax and fees over $50. Like the room was total supposed to be around $160 but it was coming to over $210. I was going back and forth with the front desk guy because I was not understanding. Anyways my friend was able to book the room under her name and I paid it. The guy wanted to see the email confirmation twice because I guess he didn’t believe that it didn’t have the amount of fees that he wanted to charge. Even though it was in the computer system on his screen and it was completely unnecessary for her to leave her room to come down and “prove it.” She did and I paid and finally got my room. The room was really nice with a full size bed and a pull out couch bed. Beds were comfortable and clean. A full size fridge/freezer and kitchen was very convenient- especially if you stay longer you can cook and eat in. Plates, utensils, dish soap and sponge all provided. Clean/new and well-stocked. Bathroom was nice, shower was hot and good pressure. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and you must come down for it!!

This hotel is absolutely great. We stayed here for a quick weekend trip to beach. Our room was super clean. The staff is very friendly and the breakfast is pretty good. If you stay over from the weekend the menu changes. Another great thing is the proximity to restaurants and shopping.

EDIT; RESPONSE TO MANAGER’S ABSURD AND UNPROFESSIONAL RESPONSE: My friend and I did not cook any food until later in the evening, much later after y’all brought in the air purifier. We had to leave the room 10 minutes after checking in due to how horrible the smell was and that is when you put in the air purifier. We would have not had time to start cooking in that short amount of time. As someone who grew up around smokers, I know exactly what cigarettes smell like and again my friend and I found a cigarette butt on the balcony. Everyone knows that once someone smokes inside/really close to a room, the smell is nearly impossible to eliminate completely. It is outrageous and completely unprofessional to gaslight and put blame on the guest instead of just admitting that the room was not properly inspected after the last guest checked out. It’s not that hard to simply apologize for a whole day of my vacation being ruined since I fell sick due to the poor air quality in your hotel. I am appalled quite frankly by such an unprofessional response and I will never stay at another Marriott hotel ever again. Very dirty and poorly constructed hotel that’s an embarrassment to Mount Pleasant. When my friend and I checked into our room, there was a strong cigarette smell and there was a cigarette butt on the balcony. The air purifier they brought into the room to get rid of the smell did nothing to help and I felt very sick and nauseous for the several hours we spent in the hotel. The balcony was also nasty and covered with dirt stains and spider webs. There were stains all over the couch as well. The AC in the bedroom made a very loud banging noise and blew hot air directly onto the balcony. The lobby smelled like mildew so I couldn’t even feel better sitting there. The elevator was also very old and did not seem very safe, which made my friend and I nervous. It was so bad that we had to check out early without even spending one night. I noticed instant improvement in how I felt once we left. When I respectfully addressed this with Tom, he immediately became defensive and extremely rude, saying “no one has complained about this before” but never once apologized for the stress this caused my friend and I. Charging $250/a night for motel quality is insane. Hopefully the new residence inn they are building by patriots point is better than this one.

The smell in the lobby and room was asphyxiating with the artificial synthetic odor of neon purple fabuloso cleaning solution. It was so bad we had to pack up and leave after 10 minutes. The clerk graciously gave us a refund.

Hotel common areas and rooms were clean. Service was very good. The parking lot is a little difficult to get in and out of with the shopping center next door but will certainly stay here again.
