The Elliott House Inn offers a convenient location in Charleston, praised for its friendly staff and charming courtyard. However, recent reviews highlight concerns about noise levels, room maintenance, and inconsistent service, particularly regarding bathroom cleanliness and toilet functionality. Value is a mixed bag, with some finding it appealing for the location but others deeming it overpriced for the quality.
Great location but the rooms are small and not well maintained. No daily housekeeping services, pealing paint, tiny bathroom, minimal cooperation from staff. Breakfast was merely coffee or tea from a pump pot. The wine and cheese afternoons were poor and cheaply done. I would not recommend this inn unless location is your only priority.
Elliott House Inn is THE BEST!!!!! Jeremy, Mike, and the rest of Ashley's team are always on point. The rooms were fresh and clean and the property is welcomed escape e. Thank you all for another great stay!
Overall good value for the several days I stayed. However, it's right in the middle of Charleston's busy area and right on the street. Plus the rooms themselves don't have good sound insulation. So if you're looking for a quiet night, this isn't it.
We stayed in room 12 which was on the bottom floor. First, we could hear everything outside and in the room above us. the bed and pillows were not comfortable and it was a small room with a small bed - it felt claustrophobic. On top of that the noise kept us up as well. Second, the first time we used the toilet and it clogged. The shower was very dirty with very poor water pressure. We took pictures if the hotel leadership would like to see them. Our view outside the room was a grease trap that was VERY disgusting! So overall we had an awful experience and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Elliott House Inn as a solo tracker. The location was perfect and walkable to everywhere I wanted to go. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. The wine and cheese reception each evening was a great way to meet the other guests; there was also coffee available each morning. My only complaint is that my room was on the street side so I was awakened each morning by the noise on the street - so bring ear plugs! I don't know if it would have been any more quiet if I was in a room a bit further from the street. Otherwise, the room was clean and perfect for a long weekend trip. I will definitely be back.
We loved our stay at The Elliott House! Our room was extremely clean and comfortable. The location was incredible- delicious restaurants next door and shopping everywhere. We enjoyed the wine and cheese offered daily while sitting on the veranda in the evenings. We most definitely will return!
We had the best time at the Elliot House!! We visit Charleston and the surrounding beaches often and this has BY FAR been our most favorite places to stay. The location was the best we could ask for especially for the affordable price. The most memorable part of our stay was the incredible staff. Jeremy, one of the staff at Elliot House, was the most genuine friendliest people. He made us feel so welcomed and treated us like we were the most special people. He was so sweet and the nicest person to talk to while we enjoyed our complimentary wine and cheese. Jeremy truly was a highlight of our trip and a reason to come back and stay at the Elliot House Inn again. Thank you Jeremy and the Elliot House!
Location is great. Be aware that parking lot always says full but we tried and were able to get a ticket. If you don’t get a ticket, you’re out of luck so if you can get in, leave your car there for your stay and use Uber or Bike Trips if you can’t walk to where you want to go. Room was tiny. Bed small and uncomfortable. Shower was fine but don’t expect to enjoy staying in your room if it’s raining. No breakfast but a nice wine and cheese hour at 5p. Nasty gentleman when I first called to ask questions about parking and breakfast. On location, slightly better. Bare bones quality and web description and photos make it look way better than it is. Nestled between two restaurants so there is noise if your room is near. A/C stays on continuously so that’s noisy too. Spend more for a better place downtown if you want to be right in the thick of it.
I’ve stayed at the Elliott House Inn twice and both times were great. The staff were friendly, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We stayed in room 19 and there were no issues with noise. The location is great; restaurants and shops within walking distance. The courtyard is very pretty and quiet with ample seating. And, they offer wine and cheese in the evenings for anyone interested in that. The only parking is across the street and it’s a daily $20 charge. We didn’t have any issues with parking when we arrived nor any time we left and came back. I read the negative reviews and thankfully those were not our experiences. I would definitely stay here again.
I really try to stay in boutique hotels when I can, but this one was a miss. Upon check in, the host welcomed us but also made a comment that we'd gotten a discount on our room. Why yes, you offer a discount and I'll take it. Warren Buffett would do the same. Our room was off the courtyard. It was a place with A/C and hot water. The window looked out on the staircase of the restaurant next door, the bathroom needs a deep clean (mildewy shower head), and the door lock didn't work well. It does have a courtyard and they offer coffee in the am and wine/cheese in the afternoon. The location is what you get for the money. That said, I'd take my money again next door to the Mills House if I wanted to be in this hood.
