Crowne Plaza Charleston Airport Convention Center offers a modern and convenient stay just minutes from Charleston International Airport and downtown attractions. Perfect for both business and leisure travelers, the hotel features stylish rooms, versatile meeting spaces, and upscale amenities.
The Crowne Plaza Charleston Airport Convention Center receives mixed reviews, with some praising its convenient location, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms, particularly the lobby and pool area. However, concerns frequently arise regarding room maintenance, cleanliness issues such as mildew and leaking showers, and inconsistent service, including problems with elevator stability and breakfast quality. Recent reviews highlight the need for addressing these persistent issues to maintain guest satisfaction.
Place is pretty nice. They have a bar downstairs stays open late. You can also order food from it. They also have a restaurant that's located in the building. Plenty of parking also have a pool. All the rooms are modernized they do have a limited TV channels available
If the room had been $49, I still would have felt like I’d overpaid. Walking into the room was like opening a bottle of wine you already regret ordering. The first note was unmistakable: dog wash. That was quickly followed by an aggressive bouquet of stale ashtray, with a lingering aftertaste of “let’s just get by.” The absence of a window didn’t create privacy. It created questions. The kind of questions that make you wonder what exactly they’re trying to keep from escaping. The journey to the room felt less like checking into a hotel and more like touring a building that had lost the will to improve. Along the way: exposed Sheetrock damage, torn wallpaper, and the quiet resignation of only one functioning elevator doing its best under difficult circumstances. The overall experience was not hostile, just deeply indifferent. Which somehow felt worse. If you’re looking for a place to sleep and reflect on your life choices, this might be a strong fit. If you’re looking for anything resembling comfort, I’d recommend continuing your search.
We recently celebrated a New Year’s party for our Russian Community at the Crowne Plaza Charleston Hotel, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. Diane Wagner, the Crowne Meeting Director, and her entire staff were extremely professional, attentive, and easy to work with from start to finish. Our guests came from nearby cities and stayed at the hotel for two - three nights. Everyone was very happy with the location, the service, and the overall atmosphere. The rooms were comfortable, the event space was great, and everything was organized smoothly. Huge thanks to Diane and her team for making our celebration so special. Highly recommend — truly a 5-star experience!
Ive never stayed at a Crowne Plaza hotel. I’m used to top tier hotels and service. This hotel was great. My favorite part was that Brandon at the front desk was fantastic! This man understands hospitality and deserves a raise!! Thank you Brandon for making our stay wonderful, you were a delight! If you go here, ask for Brandon!
Room clean & spacious, staff friendly & helpful. Bar in lobby a good hangout. Restaurant great... Bourbon salmon moist & flavorful, shrimp & grits tasty but not overloaded with butter. Restaurant furniture badly worn (surprising they let it go this far, but the food is tasty!). Convenient to airport.
I stayed here for an event, so not a place I selected. Stay was on, Oct. 8-12, 2025 The common areas are open and look great, lots of places to sit and mingle. Front desk staff was very helpful. The fitness room worked for me, one of the three treadmills had an issue. I told the front desk about it and still 2 days later, same issue. I would have thought they would pull the plug on it and place an out of order sign on it. The room was nice, not much light, really dark at the microwave and coffee pot area. I had to use a flashlight to see how much water to put into the coffee maker with all the lights on in the room. Bathroom was pretty bad. Fixtures where rusting and coming off the wall. Walls where beat up. The whole bathroom needed a remodel. The photo with the lighted rectangles, that is with the room dark and the bathroom light on. Pretty bright if someone is still trying the sleep in the room. The door should have been solid. The bottom wood panel was falling out so the bottom glass was sliding down. Just another issue. Hotel is near the airport, so I could hear a plane once in awhile, but it was not an issue. Just a low roar, barely heard it fly over. Room not very quite, if someone was talking out in the hallway, it sounded like they where in the room with you.
Fantastic hotel, and the staff was incredibly accommodating on managing the constantly shifting travel arrangements of my employer. The hotel itself is great, especially for the pricing. My only complaint is the shuttle service, as they did not stick to scheduled times, honor scheduled events, and went back and forth on what was "complimentary" versus "Surprise, this is now a $30/trip charge," I would recommend that if available, that you just Uber if you're going somewhere that isn't walkable to you. All things considered, I would absolutely choose this hotel again.
My stay at the hotel was far from pleasant. The overwhelming odor of mildew permeated every corner, making it difficult to relax. Many of the staff appeared unclear about the policies for IHG members, which added to the frustration. The quality of the liquor served at the bar was subpar, and the bartender's attitude was shockingly rude. On a positive note, the front desk staff were knowledgeable and genuinely helpful, a silver lining in an otherwise disappointing experience. If you're considering a military stay, being on base offers a significantly better alternative. The extent of the water damage and mildew and mold on the walls gave the impression that the ongoing construction was merely a facade, failing to address the underlying issues. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. For the price, the location may seem appealing, but honestly, I would have preferred sleeping in my car over enduring such low quality accommodations.
Checked in Sept 20, 2025 - went to room to find that one of the shower door hinges was not properly installed which did not let the door close well AND, the barn door style at the entrance of the bathroom did NOT move; so essentially, no privacy in the bathroom. There was also blackened areas ono the ceiling tiles in the bathroom. I called the front desk at that time and asked that maintenance take care of it the next day. Well, today is the 22nd, and despite my repeated requests (over the phone and in person at the front desk) the issues have not been addressed. The other two issues with the room are (1) that the phone handset never charged making it necessary to use the speaker phone option to make calls. (2) the required diagram of the floor layout with emergency procedures was not on the door. The hotel appears to be undergoing some renovations; bathrooms off the lobby are actually in vacant guest rooms (weird) and the chairs in the dining room are worn and tattered. The breakfast is overpriced. Our dinner took 30 minutes to arrive (soup, salad & a sandwich wrap) with only one table of four in the dining room. Signage could be improved upon for sure within the hotel as well as at the the entrance from the roadway. Only way we would stay at another property, is if I checked the room prior to bringing in my luggage. Pretty sad with what the room charges are. We expected much more and will seek to speak to a 'manager' in the morning.
This hotel is in a very convenient location adjacent to Tanger Outlet stores and restaurants. Rooms are large and well-appointed with tasteful decor. Great shower! Spacious outdoor pool area where one can lounge comfortably. Great lobby with bar, restaurant and cozy seating. Two things I might improve upon: (1) Why not add a simple breakfast buffet (e.g. fruit, cereal) in room price? Hefty additional charge for breakfast. (2) Better signage about location of rooms at elevators and in hallways to help guests find their room more easily. The atrium-like configuration makes it challenging so clearer signage would help and make it safer for egress in case of an emergency. Love the huge lampshade hanging from the ceiling and the other unusual kind of “funky” decor. Hospitable, friendly staff and good service.
