The Courtyard Charleston Historic District offers a convenient location within walking distance of Charleston’s historic district and popular attractions. Guests consistently praise the friendly staff, valet service, and comfortable rooms, while some express concerns regarding room cleanliness, noise levels, and the cost of parking. Overall, it's a well-located option for exploring Charleston.
Walking distance to all the things to see/do in Charleston. LOVED our balcony room! On site food was delicious. House keeping was super friendly. Front desk gave amazing service. Valet attendants were super quick and attentive. Can’t wait to stay here again!
We hosted a conference in the Grand Cyprus Ballroom and the team could not have been more helpful throughout the event. Cady and her team are utmost professionals who were kind, flexible and on top of things. We were told that guests often praise the banquet food, and I can happily report we received the most positive feedback on the lunches (Thanks, Chef!). The hotel is a short drive from the airport and you can easily walk around the historic areas of Charleston. We would definitely host another event here!
Charleston is EXPENSIVE, but beautiful. This hotel puts you within walking distance to French quarter and king street shopping and restaurants. Check out the piano bar across the park and up a street it’s awesome. Great pool area, though it was not heated so we didn’t go in. The window curtains don’t reach the bottom of the window so it is BRIGHT in the room at like 6am (bring a sleep mask) also the housekeepers are very loud in the mornings at nearby rooms (bring ear plugs) though it’s not their fault, the walls are paper thin and you can hear your neighbors pretty clearly.
The service is decent and location is excellent. The rooms could use updating and improvements. They are are comfortable, yet unimpressive. Also, I was double-charged for valet/parking. Which is a high priced service side at least $43 per day. Especially high considering I have a manual transmission, and some of the valet drivers were unable to operate this, so they would often just send me my keys and I would have to get my own car. So $86 for two days for a parking spot and someone to hand me keys. And then the double charge, totaling $172. Would not recommend the hotel overall.
Had a top floor room and a very nice experience at this Charleston Hotel in the Historic District. Our front desk check in was with Tiffany. She was very welcoming and professional. We arrived during the Friday 3pm Happy Hour with complimentary Champagne, Beer, and Wine, with a beautiful Charcuterie board. The lobby is lovely and there were many comfy areas to sit back and relax. The parking in on-site and done by a valet. The rooms were spacious with needed accommodations: mini fridge, microwave & coffee maker, iron, board and hair dryer. The beds and pillows were comfortable and housekeeping was provided for even a 2 night stay. That was a surprise! Although you could hear voices easily from the hallway, you heard virtually nothing from other rooms. Our room faced toward the back so had no road noise either. I would definitely come back:)
Checking in Tiffany was great. I felt like she remembered me from my last stay. Went to the bar for dinner and had great service from Michelle. Michelle has always been a great bartender and I enjoy the wonderful service. If you decide to stay at this property you will not be disappointed
Our first trip to Charleston was unforgettable thanks to the Marriott’s warm, helpful staff—especially Jackie. She was always smiling, incredibly knowledgeable about local restaurants and shops, and genuinely kind to guests and colleagues. Her thoughtful service and genuine southern hospitality moved us; we’ll definitely return to Charleston and stay at the Marriott again because of her.
The hotel is very conveniently located, and is close to several downtown attractions at close walkable distances such as the Charleston Visitor Center, Waterfront attractions such as Fort Sumter Visitor Center, Aquarium, the fountains, water-taxi stops as well as the Rainbow Row, French Quarter and market. It is also on the free DASH shuttle routes and is close to several eateries downtown. Valet parking is available and it is not for free obviously. There are several parking lots close by (one just across the road) if you would like to park there. The room was very nice and spacious and very well laid out. Their restaurant is quite a relief and is available for breakfast in the morning and evening snacks and food for set hours, and also offers Starbucks coffees. We would also like to thank the front desk team for helping us with the microwave and the prompt service call.
This his hotel is very clean, well run, and just a 10 minute walk from key shopping areas, restaurants, and the Charleston market with plenty of historical landmarks nearby. We made a last-minute weekend trip to Charleston and most of the hotels we stay at right near the Market were booked, so this was an easy choice and we were very happy with it. The outdoor pool faces south, southeast and gets direct sun all morning. Even with a low of 60° and high of 72° in early November it was definitely warm enough to take a quick dip after a workout at the exercise room, which is just a few steps away. The exercise room is on the small side but adequately equipped with a number of ellipticals, treadmills, stationary cycles, a small selection of free weights, step box, and stretch bands - better equipped than most hotels in this range. The rooms, public area, pool, exercise rooms, and café are immaculately clean, and the restaurant does offer a good selection of well prepared food. If you are looking for full amenities, an upscale in-house restaurant, 24 hour room service, an indoor pool, etc this is not it, but the Courtyard by Marriott in the Charleston Historic District is a great choice whether you are seeking value or just a convenient location near downtown Charleston.
We booked 3 nights Oct 16-19. The room is in good size. Check in and out is easy. The location is good. The room is VERY basic. We paid top price for this weekend to attend a wedding. There is not even a bottle of water. Nothing is in the mini fridge. The bathroom is very basic. No cosmetic amenities at all. The shower set is 80's. We didn't ask for room full service rather jut for room cleaning and tidying. However, the popcorn we dropped on the floor and bed from the night before were still there after their cleaning. The cleaner doesn't speak a word of English.
