This Courtyard by Marriott in Mt. Pleasant consistently receives negative feedback, revolving primarily around poor customer service, room cleanliness issues, and billing errors. Recent reviews highlight problems ranging from incompetent staff and billing disputes to bedbug infestations and neglected maintenance. While some guests praise the hotel’s ambiance and location, the overwhelming majority express significant dissatisfaction with the overall experience.
WORST hotel experience and customer service I have ever dealt with. The managers, front desk staff especially Gabriella were completely incompetent and provided some of the worst hospitality service I’ve ever experienced. Not only did they mess up my room reservation, but they made little to no effort to resolve the issue. Their only “solution” was to ask me to pay even more money for another room until they could supposedly fix their mistake the next day. When I requested to speak with a manager, I was told there was “no manager on duty.” I then asked them to contact any manager available to help resolve the situation. They eventually contacted the General Manager, who was completely unhelpful and did absolutely nothing to fix the issue. In fact, while speaking with another employee, I was informed that the General Manager told the front desk staff they did not feel it was necessary to resolve our issue at all. I continued to be told there was “nothing they could do” to help me. Because of this, I was forced to cancel my reservation entirely and book a completely different hotel at the last minute. I was explicitly GUARANTEED that I would not be charged anything, yet when I checked my account, there was still a charge from the hotel. When I called to request a refund, I was once again given the same excuse that there was “no manager on duty,” and they also denied charging my card altogether. This place was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Horrible customer service, zero accountability, and no effort to make things right. I would highly recommend avoiding this hotel completely
Terrible customer service, a week of no response from hotel after my card was charged 4 different times. Once for incidentals, I completely understand. The problem is, my company card was charged 3 more times without my permission. In fact, I was not even present so authorization could not have happened. Many other hotels that will not charge your card without authorization in Mount Pleasant. The management of this hotel is well aware of the situation and refuses to respond. All I needed was an explanation and/or admission of a mistake.
I had a great stay here while visiting family in the area. The hotel was extremely clean and well maintained, which made the stay very comfortable. The room and common areas were spotless and everything felt well taken care of. The location was also perfect. It’s close to a lot of great shopping and restaurants, and it’s a convenient distance from the beach as well, which made getting around really easy. The front desk staff were polite, helpful, and very prompt whenever I had a question. I didn’t run into any issues during my stay, which made the experience even better. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and would definitely stay again the next time I’m in town visiting family.
I recently stayed at this location for a medical procedure. We chose this hotel because the Dr performing my procedure said that we would get the medical rate for our stay. When I booked online there was no option for medical rate. I thought I would have it changed when we arrived. The hotel refused to give us the medical rate saying there were no more rooms available at that rate. DO NOT stay at this hotel if you are having a medical procedure done in the Charleston area!
This is by far the most upscale Courtyard by Marriott Charleston I’ve ever stayed at. The lobby and public areas are beautifully designed, modern, and incredibly inviting — it immediately gives off a polished, high-end feel the moment you walk in. The rooms were just as impressive — clean, well-appointed, and very comfortable. Everything felt thoughtfully laid out and well maintained. There’s also plenty of convenient parking, and the location is excellent, close to shopping and a great selection of restaurants. If I’m ever back in the Charleston area, I will absolutely stay here again. I can highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable and elevated stay.
I'm giving this one star since zero isn't an option. We had to switch rooms at first because the sink was backed up. It only got worse from there—the beds in the new room had bedbugs. Absolutely disgusting. I broke out in a terrible allergic reaction all over my face, arms, and legs, which ruined several days of my trip. I still have scars, even after nearly 20 days
I booked a room, which my accommodation was not met, i was given a different room without notice. Still charged full price and I was reassured by front desk staff that the GM would either reach out to me or try to right the wrong which never happened. Also had a broken shower with clogged drain so the water pressure was half way and the tub filled as you shower.
Really disappointed this trip. Was here 3 weeks ago and it was fine. Housekeeping was acceptable, not superb by any means. This time around, I slept in bed all night then went to straighten up my pillows when I awoke. Was absolutely appalled to find crumbs in the bed. I had no food on the room. When I walked into the bathroom, I drug crumbs in there with me. Disgusting!! I went to the front desk and advised them. I asked that the sheets be changed and rug swept. They didn’t act surprised nor concerned. When I returned to my room, I have no clue whether they honored my request or just brushed the crumbs off. I’ve had no contact from housekeeping or management, which I don’t find acceptable. I return for business on a frequent basis and will choose a different hotel next time. Be aware to turn your sheets down AND check under your pillows. Gives me the heebie jeebies. Picture below shows food (I hope) caked into the desk chair in the room.
Beautiful hotel with a great ambiance. The room we had was small and dated. Small parking lot. We happened to be staying here at the same time as a baseball tournament? As I mentioned, it’s already a small parking lot and they don’t enforce parking of any sort. Truck with a trailer and a box truck took up twelve spots by themselves, which was infuriating but even more infuriating is the fact they didn’t do anything about it.
Staff was friendly, hotel was very out of date. Our room smelled like a wet dog. No cold A/C could reduce the moldy- dog smell. When I went to shower there was someone else’s hair stuck on the wall. Ugh- so terrible. Would never stay here again and do NOT recommend!!!
