The Charleston Marriott consistently receives positive feedback, particularly regarding friendly and attentive staff, including security personnel and bartenders. Guests appreciate the comfortable rooms, well-equipped gym, and pool area. However, concerns exist around dated facilities, location distance from the historic district, and inconsistent breakfast quality.
Another exceptional experience staying with Marriott. Thank you so much for the hospitality with our WiRL group the past couple of days. From front desk to housekeeping the Charleston Marriott was so kind and always went above and beyond for any needs. I highly recommend this location to anyone traveling in the Charleston area.
Great location and nice rooms. Takes 30 minutes to check in...other than that, it was a great location and nice place. Maybe train the night staff to speed up the check-in process!
This is typical Marriott experience. Neither outstanding nor bad. Being Titanium Bonvoy Member, it is easy to see the really big differentiators, whether really great or very bad. Here it is sold 3-3.5 out of 5. The location is not bad, but not ideal. It is pleasant water facing property, but 2 miles from historic center. Need car to drive or grab Lyft/Uber. The service was friendly and generally fine. The complimentary breakfast in the Lounge was "mew", nothing good. The hotel building and common areas are nothing special, dated too. The rooms are ok, not particularly large and old, but clean and adequately appointed. Bathrooms are on a smaller and older side. The rate was moderate. Another typical US city Marriott, nothing more to add here.
Weather for business or pleasure.We have always stated the marriott, and this time was no exception with its phenomenal spectacular service.The place inside is fabulous and everything is clean and the hotel smells amazing. all my work colleagues were really surprised and impressed and so was I. it was twenty of us and afterwards one evening we went to blom, coffee and wine bar and we just absolutely loved it there. they have all the red rose and white wine one could possibly one.And then afterwards we all headed out to dinner in the downtown area, which was also amazing. but everything started with the stay at the hotel charleston marriott. Ten stars because twenty were not available.
I enjoyed a great stay here at Charleston Marriott. Located within a 10 minute Uber drive from downtown, made for a convenient spot. The front desk staff were super friendly, including the housekeepers. The rooms are nicely designed and come with a fridge!! Really enjoyed
This review is for a one-night stay in 1003. First, the staff at this hotel is terrific. Friendly and responsive. Lobby, terrace and patio area are clean, comfortable, and attractive. Apparently scheduled for a comprehensive renovation, I can say the property needs it. The room was comfortable but a little dank. The carpenting, windows and shower definitely showing their age. The location is fine but really requires an Uber or taxi to the main historic district and the best shopping and restaurants. I look forward to returning when the hotel is refreshed.
We got back to the hotel around 1 a.m. after a wedding and realized we needed foam pillows and our AC wasn’t blowing properly. Tameika and Richard went above and beyond — they handled everything within minutes and did it with such kindness and professionalism. After a long day, their amazing service truly made a difference. Experiences like this are exactly why we always choose Marriott!
Tried to check in a little early, noonish. They said the room need to be cleaned. You would think with someone waiting, the is ambassador elite status, they would get onto cleaning. Nope. Waited 4 hours for a room. Guy at the reception desk was no help. Hotel is not well managed. Lots of staff carts is halls. Sink didn't drain well. AC didn't get below 70. Overall not satisfied with this hotel. Best thing about the hotel was the very nice bar tender on Sunday night.
This hotel gives a colonial vibe much in keeping with historic Charleston. The staff are extremely friendly and the hotel is quiet and comfortable. The rooms are large and the one I had gave me great views of the Ashley River. The location is not great - somewhat distant from the city centre but there’s a nearby stop for a not-so-frequent free shuttle run by the city. I have a request for the hotel to provide coffee mugs in-room. The disposable cups are wasteful.
I visited Charleston, SC, July 17-21, 2025, for a family reunion. I stayed at the Charleston Marriott room. The staff was professional, courteous, knowledgeable, informative, patient and attentive. The dining was great. I love the pool. The gym was perfect, it was clean and was fully equipped. Most importantly I felt safe there. Thank you to the security who was conducting a sweep of the property Monday morning when I went to my car at 130am. I was glad to see him. I enjoyed my stay and look forward to visiting again. I would recommended this hotel. Thank you Noah, Matt, Karen Mc, and Vanessa.
