The Palmetto Hotel consistently receives positive feedback for its prime downtown Charleston location, charming decor, and friendly staff, particularly highlighting personalized service and a delightful continental breakfast. However, recent reviews indicate recurring issues with noise levels, inconsistent housekeeping, and limited amenities, impacting the overall guest experience.

We had a wonderful stay at this boutique hotel. Check in was smooth and Justin kindly fulfilled my request and gave me great local info. The location is near great restaurants. My room was nice, comfortable, and clean with a spa shower. The bed was firm but not overly so, and we slept well. The continental breakfast was surprisingly good with incredibly delicious pastries from a local bakery, boiled eggs, and grits. The only downside is having to pay for parking, but that is the case anywhere downtown. Thankfully, there is a garage directly behind the hotel so parking is convenient if not cheap. On street parking is free from 6PM to 9AM. I would definitely stay again and recommend The Palmetto Hotel.

We had our wedding at The Palmetto Hotel in Charleston and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. We worked with Shannon, who was incredibly accommodating, organized, and easy to work with throughout the process. The hotel is beautiful, and the penthouse was absolutely stunning for our small wedding. Everything went smoothly with no issues at all. Highly recommend!

Stunning boutique hotel in downtown Charleston!! I’m a former local that returned for a visit. Great location for tourists and walkable everywhere in the downtown area. Beautiful decor, great rooms, delicious continental breakfast, all staff were very friendly. Our 18 month old was with us and we were very pleased!

Clean rooms, great drinks at the bar, stylish lobby, super central location. Complimentary breakfast was pretty sparse (biscuits and gravy, hard boiled eggs, tiny yogurt parfaits, muffins and scones) compared to what I’ve seen at other hotels, though. We had a room facing the alley and it was pretty loud when we slept with the windows open - totally fine when closed.

Great downtown location, lovely decor, friendly staff and comfy rooms - the lobby bartender and valet made great recommendations for restaurants while I enjoyed a nightcap. Morning continental breakfast was delightful - scones and grits were a lovely local touch from nearby restaurant- and the lobby music really added to the relaxed vibe. I appreciated the little details, like comfy robes, Nespresso coffee, chocolates, and freshwater in the room. I should mention that check-in was speedy and a welcome cocktail was a sweet touch. I worked in the lobby the following morning and managed to catch the delivery of warm donuts from High Cotton next-door that are delivered every Thursday, Friday, Saturday… Delicious! Smiles and friendly assistance from all staff. Thanks for a great stay.

Elevated room and very lovely decor- but the staff and the service do not match the price or level they market themselves at. Our light switches in our room didn’t work, the phone doesn’t allow you to call the front desk for help. The staff does not give a professional attitude and wasn’t very warm. Little things like this add up to detract from the experience. I wouldn’t pay the listed rate for that again, but with improved staff and attention to detail this will be a stand out hotel in Charleston.

Our stay at Palmetto Hotel in Charleston has been very disappointing. Housekeeping did not properly clean our room during our stay. The room was left completely intact every day - beds were not made, trash was not picked up, and nothing was cleaned. The only thing they did was replace the towels, which is strange and unacceptable for a hotel stay. On top of that, the service from the front desk was extremely poor. This morning, we asked the receptionist for a simple knife to cut an orange from breakfast. She didn't even look at us and just said "okay." We waited around 10 minutes, but she never brought it. When we eventually walked past her again, she didn't apologize or acknowledge us at all. Overall, the lack of basic housekeeping and the rude, inattentive service made this stay very frustrating. This hotel does not meet basic hospitality standards, and I would not recommend it.

The Palmetto hotel in Charleston was my pick of choice for my trip to South Carolina. The hotels located in an excellent location and is a beautiful hotel. Unfortunately, they put us in an upstairs. King suite with a balcony.. The location we had was incredibly noisy with late 1am activity from the bar Carmelos next door. They also have construction going on at the building next door which provided little privacy from the workers looking straight across into our room. Nice place. Nice location, nice people. However, paying $600-700 a night and having to deal with all of the noise and the lack of a peaceful environment was more than disappointing.

The Palmetto Hotel is an absolute gem in Charleston! This boutique hotel is not only charming and adorable but also perfectly located in the historic French Quarter. The staff was absolutely amazing and incredibly welcoming from the moment I arrived. They even had a bottle of champagne and a personalized note waiting in my room—a truly special touch that made the stay feel luxurious. I also got to see the penthouse, which was even more incredible than I imagined! If you're looking for a lively lobby bar and a hotel with character and exceptional service, I highly recommend The Palmetto. It's the perfect mix of historic charm and modern luxury. A special shoutout to Jennifer, Shannon, Jody Ann, and Forrest for making my experience amazing!
