The Mills House, Curio Collection by Hilton consistently receives high praise for its luxurious accommodations, excellent location in the heart of Charleston, and attentive service. Guests rave about the beautifully renovated rooms, comfortable beds, and convenient access to key attractions. However, some reviews mention occasional parking challenges and limited access to outdoor spaces due to event scheduling.
Fantastic hotel with 5 star flavor. I loved the location and plush amenities of the rooms. The Iron Lady was a great place for breakfast. Everything felt new, the hotel was also quiet which I greatly appreciated. It's across the street from several noteworthy areas and The Gibbes Museum
Everything was SUPURB!!! Maxine, Alex, Dwight, and the entire front desk & staff were Terrific! Dwight helped to make our additional night's stay even more enjoyable (our flights were canceled and we stayed an extra night)!! We then dined in the Iron Horse...and it was the best meal we had our entire stay (Poogan's Porch, Queen 82, Miller's All Day). Landon was such a great server...he made our dining experience even more pleasurable!! The food was great...highly recommend it. The Bartenders were dynamite as well!
I selected Mills House Charleston to celebrate my 60th birthday after having a wonderful first experience 2 yrs prior. The second time did not disappoint. Staff and accommodations were above and beyond and I had a wonderful birthday traveling solo. What a festive time to visit Charleston during Christmas! The staff went above and beyond to make my stay warm. friendly and celebratory! I had a slight issue reserving a table for a single diner in the Iron Rose where I had planned to have my birthday dinner. Their reservation app did not allow for single reservations. I was so disappointed. But when I presented this to the manager on duty, Duwhyte, he said "let me take care of it" and he immediately went to the restaurant and not only came back with a single reservation for me but at an even better time! I was further surprised by my birthday desert being comped by them. This is why I choose to stay at Mills House it is like staying with family. I truly had a wonderful time and thank Duwhyte and his staff immensely for their efforts!
Hidden gem, being a short walk to King Street! Iron Rose restaurant is on the ground level, along with Black Door Café. Both food outlets were delicious! I was upgraded to a "Double Queen, City View" & it came w/ a view of their pool area/parking garage. The rooms are modern & comfortable and come equipped w/ a Keurig machine (Maud's Gourmet coffee & tea selections), mini fridge & smart TV. Robes are included in the closet. No slippers, but might be available upon request? Also, a handheld steamer (no ironing board); along w/ an in-wall safe. Comfortable bedding & pillows w/ numerous electrical outlets & USB ports on the nightstand & around the room. Only a standard showerhead w/ regular water pressure, no handheld sprayer; complete w/ Victor Vaissier bath products. The front desk acknowledged my Hilton Honors status at check-in & sent periodic texts, asking on a scale of 1 - 5, how my overall stay has been, so far. There's a parking garage connected to the hotel, although not affiliated. I paid $24 for an overnight (January 2026). Park on Level 4 for direct access to the "hotel bridge." Well worth the convenience! I would highly recommend this hotel for its cleanliness, comfort & location!
Hubby and I decided to do a short staycation in DT and we really enjoyed our stay here. Duwhyte at the FD was very nice upon checking us in and upgraded us which was such a nice surprise. Although it wasn’t cabana season or warm enough to get into the pool, the cabana room was really nice and clean. I thought the room was just so cute and loved how the entire hotel was decorated. I was still able to enjoy a couple hours sitting out in the sun by the pool during my stay. They offered an hour of complimentary champagne in the late afternoon which was a nice touch. The hotel has a nice cafe and restaurant attached so you don’t have to go far to find some food and coffee. I definitely recommend this hotel and enjoyed our brief time there.
Mills House is simply exceptional. The service here is a luxurious experience from the moment you walk in the door. Daniel, the Hotel Manager is awesome & super helpful. The front office team is so friendly and assists with anything at a moments notice. The coffee shop in the lobby has everything you need and serves great La Colombe coffee. The rooms are STUNNING and the beds are insanely comfortable. The bath products smell insane and the lobby scent is awesome. Perfect location to EVERYTHING and we walked King Street each night after dinner. Just a perfect hotel in a perfect location with a perfect team. You must stay here in Charleston!!!
I’ve stayed at numerous hotels in Charleston and each has its own perks/charms. Mills is hands down my favorite. Great location, super cute, nice sized rooms (& beds!) as well as extremely nice staff. Everyone is so friendly, helpful and truly made my experience feel so special. If you are looking for a comfortable stay that feels like home-I highly recommend staying here!
Lovely! Nice views of the city. Comfy beds! Located in the heart of everything one may wanna see in the historic district. The hotel connects to public parking via second floor (costs much less than valet if you don’t really need the valet). Well preserved hotel. Historical, yet chique and classy inside. They have invested $millions in the renovation and it definitely shows! Both cafe and restaurant serve good breakfast. Service was a little judgmental of our appearance (we were in the middle of moving from NorthEast to South and obviously dressing up was the least of our worries). We definitely felt treated a bit differently, but no complaints there. Thank you for hosting us, although a brief two nights. We’ll come back with our bougie clothes next time!
There’s only one con to this hotel. It seems it mostly caters to events, weddings, conferences, etc. As a regular guest be prepared to have the open spaces (courtyard, pool terrace & pool bar) closed or restricted for your use at various times throughout the entire day. This gets annoying especially when considering the room prices. Maybe just a weekend issue. The entire staff was fantastic….the room was super clean and comfortable…location to restaurants was good. Excellent coffee in the lobby cafe. Very nice place, just know what to expect.
We originally booked a standard room at this hotel. The day before our stay, my husband had upgraded our room to a poolside room which the hotel had confirmed for him. They day of our scheduled stay, he noticed that our room had been changed AFTER our reservation was confirmed. We were told the room was no longer available, that the guest in the room decided to extend their stay. To compensate us they gave us handicap accessible patio side room. On one evening of our two night stay, we were sitting on our patio enjoying the weather and relaxing after a long day of sight seeing. We were asked to leave our patio space and go inside because there was a wedding on the patio and we couldn't be out there. The whole point of compensation was that we would have outdoor space that was comparable to the space we originally booked. The fact that we couldn't use it was really disappointing. If you book a specific room or space with this hotel, just know that they can give your reservation away, even after it has been confirmed. My husband tried numerous times to call about the change to our reservation, but nobody answers the phone. We feel they should have at least called us to inform us that our room had been moved to a handicap accessible room. I would be very hesitant to stay here for future visits to Charleston, simply because I do not trust the reservation process. It is unfortunate because it is a nice hotel and a great location, they just did a poor job of managing our reservation.
