The Vendue is a unique Charleston hotel renowned for its art gallery atmosphere and exceptional service. Guests consistently praise the friendly and attentive staff, the beautiful common areas, and the convenient location near major attractions. While some rooms may be smaller due to the historic building, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, particularly for those seeking an artistic and welcoming stay.

Had a fabulous time at The Vendue last weekend! My husband and I were celebrating our 7th wedding anniversary. We stayed there for our 5th and wanted to go back, this time we stayed on the Enclave side. Noah checked us in and was super friendly and engaging. Had a drink at the rooftop and the service and drinks were great. After dinner, we had some leftovers and Amari helped us get a mini fridge in our room within 10 minutes! There was always a staff member around to assist and never had to go searching for one. The Vendue has always been a favorite of ours and recommend it to anyone who comes to visit.

I had a wonderful visit at The Vendue. From the moment I arrived, the staff was attentive and incredibly knowledgeable. After a long drive in, Alyssa and valet made a great welcoming and first impression. The main lobby is unlike any traditional hotel lobby as it doubles as an art gallery, creating such a unique experience from the moment you walk in. Matt and the rest of the staff were excellent and genuine during check-in, providing details about the artwork and offering fantastic recommendations that added to our CHS itinerary. The location is hard to beat; the waterfront, Broad Street, City Market, and King Street are all within easy walking distance making it simple to get around. While we didn’t take advantage of them, the complimentary bikes are a great option for those who enjoy exploring by bike. Be sure not to miss the rooftop bar as well. It has a fun atmosphere and offers beautiful views, especially at sunset. Although my trip was short, The Vendue made it memorable. Exceptional staff, spotless accommodations, unique atmosphere, and the unbeatable location made every aspect of my stay stellar. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Charleston.

This one-of-a-kind hotel in Charleston is in a perfect location right by the bay and the waterfront Park in the center of the historic district. In addition, the venue is actually a wonderful value. The service is absolutely five star. Every single employee from the maids to the house manager went out of their way to check in with us to see if there's anything we needed. There is a long list of unexpected surprises and extras the staff provided to us. We have stayed in other similarly priced hotels which could not hold a candle to the five-star service of the Vendue.

We stayed at the Enclave 5/25-5/28. It was a wonderful experience. We had the "penthouse" room. It is an amazing room, utilizing the original building structure. We did have an issue with the AC not keeping up at one point but it was immediately addressed and resolved. All the staff was very helpful and attentive. Even hand delivered macarons to the room every evening. You couldn't ask for a better location. It is located right by Waterfront Park, Pinnapple Fountain and just a couple blocks away from the City Market in one direction and Rainbow Row in the other. Will not hesitate to stay here again.

Stayed at The Vendue and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The hotel is absolutely beautiful—modern with a quirky, artistic vibe that really makes it stand out from typical stays in Charleston. Every corner feels thoughtfully designed. What truly elevated the experience was the customer service. The staff went above and beyond, and you can tell they genuinely care about guests. There’s a strong attention to detail throughout the entire stay, from check-in to checkout. One of my favorite touches was the nightly cookie and milk before bed—simple, but such a warm and memorable detail. Overall, I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Charleston. It’s a perfect mix of style, comfort, and top-tier hospitality.

We stayed at The Vendue 2/11 - 2/15/2026, and it was a lovely experience. The hotel is decorated throughout with many eye-catching modern art pieces. If modern art is not your thing, don't let this stop you from booking a stay! We stayed in Room 309, which was clean, comfortable, and spacious (we are used to European-sized hotel rooms, so it seemed quite large for the two of us). But the thing that really sets The Vendue apart is the service. Check-in was a very pleasant experience, where we were greeted with glasses of prosecco and made to feel very welcome. Everyone employee we encountered was kind, gracious, and helpful. The location is also a plus - steps away from the beautiful Waterpark, and there is also a DASH stop nearby, making it easy to take advantage of the very good public transportation. We were able to easily walk or ride the DASH to every attraction we wished to visit. We will definitely return to this hotel on our next trip to Charleston.

Pros: this comfortable boutique hotel is close to everything you want in historic Charleston. We were in the Enclave part of the hotel. Check in offers a sweet treat and glass of prosecco on arrival. The room was a good size, bed very nice and comfy, good linens and pillows, large bathroom, working gas fireplace. Unlimited bottled water at no charge, a simple snack/breakfast every morning, keurig coffee maker in room and fresh coffee every morning downstairs in lobby. Great housekeeping staff, fresh towels and room refresh every day. Cons: No elevator (we didn't care) but they will gladly help with luggage to your room. The heat in the room was weird. Thermo in room you set to heat, then seems to be blowing cool/cold air right at you in bed YET it def heats up room. We would set high, go out and turn off when we got back and put on fireplace.

I stayed at The Enclave at The Vendue. My room was clean and mini fridge was in it per my request, free of charge. The staff was nice and answered any questions I had. Champagne was offered to my l me upon arrival. Two small bottles of water were in the room along with a coffee maker, mugs and coffee. The bottles of water were replaced when the room was serviced. Each evening, turn down service brings two lemon French macarons and a bag of ice. At nine, fridge chip cookies and milk are brought to the lobby; another flavor of cookie is brought to The Vendue lobby but I forget what kind. Breakfast is left hanging in a bag on the door handle. It consists of an apple, banana, two muffins, two mini croissants, two pats of butter, and jam, along with a plastic utensils. I went to the Rooftop restaurant and had the BBQ chicken sandwich and the flourishing chocolate cake. Both were delicious. About half a block away is a pier and a path to walk along the waterfront. The pineapple fountain is not far. There are many restaurants near the hotel and it is easy to walk around the area.

The Vendue is one of those rare places that feels intentional the moment you step inside. I have never stayed overnight, but I have spent time walking through the lobby and common areas simply to admire the décor and artwork. The contrast of bold red furniture against pristine white walls, paired with vibrant, thoughtfully curated paintings, creates a space that feels both energetic and refined. It’s less like a hotel lobby and more like a living gallery. What stands out just as much as the design is the staff. Every interaction I’ve observed, whether with guests checking in, visitors passing through, or casual questions at the desk, has been met with professionalism, warmth, and genuine kindness. That consistency speaks volumes about the culture of the hotel. Even as a visitor, The Vendue feels welcoming, artistic, and elevated. If the guest experience matches the care put into the spaces and the people who run them, it’s easy to see why this property is so well regarded in Charleston.

I wish I could give this hotel negative 5 stars! The reservation service for this hotel is outsourced to a shady third party company called Agoda Price Line. I needed to cancel a reservation ONE MONTH before the check-in date, well in advance of the 72 hour requirement. The hotel reservation staff told me that I clicked on a third party site on The Vendue website, which is a lie. At no point was I directed to a third party website. Agoda Price Line asked me a dozen questions and could never find the reservation, which was charged in full. They offered to give me another phone number to call. One big run-a-round so they don't have to refund almost $800. Visa can handle it unless Agoda Price Line is located in China. As a part-time resident of Charleston making this reservation for family, I am ashamed and embarrassed how a top-rated hotel in my town operates. As a part-time resident of wealthy Potomac, Maryland, I will never again say "The Vendue is my favorite" when people ask me almost daily where they should stay in Charleston. No longer my first choice in Charleston because of its misleading online reservation service to a shady third party company that can't find your reservation if you need to make a change or cancel it. Never received a confirmation number from The Vendue. Never received a 'booking ID #' from the Agoda Price Line email that did not state the name of the company any place on their email. STAY SOME PLACE ELSE. IT'S NICE BUT NOT WORTH THIS MUCH TROUBLE NICE. Having a nephew stay here once in one of the first floor art rooms now seems like a dream of a different hotel.
