Emeline received mixed reviews, with recent guests praising exceptional service, charming atmosphere, and a prime location. However, some older reviews flagged issues with room cleanliness, inconsistent maintenance, and added fees, highlighting areas needing attention. Overall, the hotel provides a stylish and welcoming experience, though reliability and value are perceived inconsistently.

The wife and I spent Memorial Day weekend at the Emeline celebrating a friend’s Coast Guard retirement, and despite a few unexpected maintenance hurdles, the staff truly went above and beyond. We experienced an AC issue the first night and, the following night, a leaking fire sprinkler head over the bed. After notifying the front desk, Nicole S., Than H., Ramona, and Rachael were incredibly apologetic and took immediate action to make things right. Michael from Maintenance also worked diligently to resolve both issues as quickly as possible. Although we had to temporarily relocate rooms the second night, the team ensured we did not have to fully pack up and move all of our belongings, allowing us to stay focused on enjoying the celebration weekend with friends. The outstanding customer service, professionalism, and dedication from the staff truly saved our weekend. We also loved the hotel’s location and atmosphere. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back the next time we visit Charleston!

Room smelled like brussel sprouts for the entire 3 nights we stayed. Elevators were inconsistently flakey (would not go to the floor, typically the 5th and only 2 were available. Staff was very courteous. Oceanview is minimal. No microwave in the suites..not even in the nook. Refrigerator small. Property credit had to be used at Frannie and the Fox (which was ok but not great). Breakfast for 2 that was included had to be used at the Clerks cafe (which was no better than the spread at a Hampton Inn). Parking is valet at almost $60/night. Gym was ok but no windows. Generally room was clean and shower had good water pressure. Chairs in the lobby near valet were falling apart. No swimming pool. Complimentary deinks are down a block at a different hotel. Best features were the location and entire floor and area were quiet. Welcoming.

We had an exceptional experience at Emeline during our family wedding weekend. From the moment our room block was arranged, everything was handled with professionalism, warmth, and genuine care. Sarah, who coordinated our wedding room block, was absolutely wonderful — always quick to answer questions, helpful with every detail, and incredibly accommodating throughout the process. The entire staff went above and beyond to make our family and guests feel welcome. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is lively, stylish, and full of charm. The rooms and common areas were spotless, beautifully designed, and created such a fun, elevated experience for everyone attending the wedding weekend. The bar and restaurant are also fantastic — beautiful, energetic, and the perfect gathering spot for guests before and after events. Emeline truly helped make our son’s wedding weekend feel special and seamless. We are so grateful to Sarah and the entire team for their hospitality and outstanding service. Highly recommend!

I recently had my wedding at Hotel Emeline and had the most beautiful, personalized experience. The venue itself is truly breathtaking, but wanted to take time to give Cornelious, the Director of Catering and Events, his flowers. From the moment we booked our wedding back in October 2024, all the way up to wedding day in May 2026, he was an absolute pleasure to work with. So professional, kind, helpful, and reassuring. He was a huge part of why our wedding day was as flawless as it was. I feel so lucky that Cornelious and his fabulous team were able to be a part of our wedding. From the food, signature cocktails, all the way to the team at Emeline who helped put together our ceremony (and our last minute rain plan), to making our cocktail hour and reception so beautiful, I’ll truly forever be so grateful we chose Emeline and would 100% recommend it to brides looking to get married in Charleston!

First the really good. Great location! Love the staff and the coffee area. Very clean and nicely kept. The room is nice with an average size bath area and larger shower which works really nicely. Real glass cups to use. The coffee and fruit on the level is nice. Nit picky maybe but here are the bads.. 1) They give you 2 drink coupons, but you have to walk 10 minutes to another hotel to use them. WHAT!? 2)They charge you and additional "hospitality fee" to get more money out of you for no reason. It is for "amenities" like the use of a workout room and wifi that others provide at no cost. 3) They charge you a fee for using a credit card to pay for your stay. REALLY? Who does not pay for hotels via credit card any more. 4) Overnight valet parking is $58. 5) They cut off the TV in your room right at 11:00 when you are supposed to check out. Not a big deal, but it seems like they try to nickel and dime and pick at you. If you do not care about money go ahead and stay there..

We recently stayed at The Emeline and enjoyed every second of it. The location is perfect for anyone looking to explore Charleston—everything is easily walkable and right outside the door. From the moment we checked in, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, which immediately set the tone for our stay. We loved starting our mornings with breakfast and coffee at Clerks Coffee Company—such a great spot. The Wellness Passport was an amazing perk. We booked fitness classes at F45 and Peach Lab, and both experiences were fantastic. It really elevated our stay and made it feel extra special. Overall, we truly enjoyed our time at The Emeline and absolutely plan to return in the future.

Whatever you do avoid suite 101 at all costs! I booked this through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts program expecting a luxury experience and ended up with headaches and much less. This suite is located right beside the restaurant kitchen and you are 3 steps away from restaurant crowd dining in courtyard. You cannot increase the volume of both TVs in the room so you are stuck listening to every annoyance. There is absolutely no sound proofing in this room. I expected a relaxing vacation in a nice hotel with robes and was given quite the opposite. I’m sure it gets quiet after dinner service but the restaurant closes at 11pm and the kitchen probably would keep cleaning/prep until midnight. We would not have slept at all in this room so we just left. Front desk and valet tried to accommodate but they were fully booked out. Also the area of this hotel is not good it’s right beside all the Times Square type tourist trap shops and pretty run down. Luckily you can just walk 2 blocks to get to the nicer parts of downtown.

Courteous staff welcome you and respond to queries. Our room included to separate bedrooms for a quiet and private stay, even with our daughter along. The location is perfect to walk to parks, galleries, restaurants and historical sites in the city. Getting your car from valet parking is also easy. We had room service for breakfast and one meal at the hotel. Both nice but there are soooo many great restaurants nearby. Besides coffee in the room, there's a refreshment station near the elevator on each guest floor. Get coffee, tea, fresh fruit and water. There's a wonderful outdoor gas fireplace and courtyard on the other side of the restaurant area. If you're there in a cool season please enjoy this spot.

This hotel was amazing! We came during Christmas time and it was decorated beautifully. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We got the valet to get our car and they discovered we had a flat tire and they changed it for us without us even asking. The rooms were perfect. Beds are comfy, and we had 2 bathrooms! Location was also perfect. Will definitely be back!

2 An Unforgettable Stay at Emeline Review of Emeline Pending review Reviewed ?????????? From the moment we arrived, our experience at Emeline was nothing short of exceptional. This was my first time staying here, and I casually mentioned that to Rachel, the hotel manager — and what she did next truly embodied true Southern hospitality. Rachel went above and beyond by upgrading our stay to the Collector's premiere one bedroom suite featuring Craig Conover's Christmas pillows. The room was incredible, we even had a Christmas tree! Rachel's thoughtfulness made our visit feel incredibly special and personal. It wasn’t just an upgrade — it was a genuine act of kindness that made us feel welcomed, valued, and truly taken care of. Emeline itself is stunning: stylish, warm, and perfectly curated with that effortless Charleston charm. Every detail feels intentional, from the inviting atmosphere to the impeccable service. But it’s the people — especially Rachel — who truly set this hotel apart. Because of this experience, Emeline will be the only hotel I stay at in Charleston going forward. Exceptional service like this leaves a lasting impression, and Rachel turned our stay into a memory I’ll always cherish. Thank you for setting the bar so high — we’ll be back again and again. ?
