The Restoration Hotel consistently receives high praise for its luxurious accommodations, attentive service, and prime location in Charleston. Guests frequently highlight the thoughtful amenities such as daily breakfast baskets, complimentary happy hour, and convenient transportation options. However, some reviews indicate occasional inconsistencies with service and facilities.
Phenomenal hotel. Our first time and will make it our Charleston go-to. Fantastic, spacious, well-furnished rooms and with comforting touches - w happy hour, complimentary non-alcoholic mini-bars, delivered breakfast, popcorn, etc. Not at all a hotel feel. And fabulous service and managers - William, LaShara, and Matthew are super sharp, friendly, fun, helpful, and knowledgeable. Plus, terrific location. Very appreciative!
Cute hotel close to busy shopping and great eateries. Upon check-in we were notified the elevator was broken and unless we wanted to carry our bags upstairs they recommended we give them a little time to get it fixed. Once we returned we were told it was still out of order and they almost have it fixed. After another hour or so upon returning we told them we just wanted to check into the room, only to be told that there was more than one elevator and the other elevator was working fine but taking longer than normal due to the additional traffic. I'm not sure why we would not have been told that from the get-go. Once in the room we were pleased overall, however, there is a large fluorine seam of two different heights running down the middle, creating a trip hazard. For the price of the suite, I would highly recommend the flooring be addressed, when navigating at night. It's a trip hazard. More importantly, the water temp. It is beyond scalding hot. I'm all for a hot shower etc. This would create significant injury if you could actually hold your hands etc under the water long enough. It's well above health code. 120° limit. Should be addressed for the safety of guests immediately.
My husband & I recently stayed for 3 nights with our 5 month old and we were blown away by the hospitality, cleanliness, amenities & perks of this hotel. Our King suite was perfect for us, with a kitchenette and living area to set up the pack & play for our baby that they kindly provided to us. The daily breakfast baskets and happy hours every evening were such nice touches! Staff were all incredibly kind and accommodating. The location is impossible to beat, so central and walkable to everything. We look forward to coming back!
I couldn't be happier that we chose this hotel for our first visit to Charleston. Our room was perfect and the hotel was quiet. I love that The Rise Coffee Bar is attached. The daily breakfast basket was a treat even when we went out for breakfast. Having some fruit or a breakfast pastry to start the day off was great. I asked for extra popcorn and Coca-Cola, and both were expeditiously provided. We requested rides to the aquarium and African American Museum on different days, and Matthew, the guest experience manager, was gracious in driving us to our destinations at the exact times we were hoping for. The location of the hotel - right off King Street - was so perfect. We averaged about 12k steps per day exploring the shops, historic landmarks, museums and restaurants. The bathtub in our room was perfectly slanted. I would love to come back to this hotel!
This place does it right. What blew me and my wife away was the micro attention to detail and the countless additional extra touches. We woke up to a breakfast basket everyday. Complimentary snacks when we arrive. Complimentary car service. The wine and cheese happy hour. Even the key card had a unique holder. The owners of this place and the staff add so much unexpected value and service and it made it that much more special.
Everything here is great from service to location to size of rooms. The little touches like free snacks in the fridge, washer and dryer in room, two bathrooms, etc... for this price, I was genuinely impressed. Improvements, though minor, could be the HVAC (noisy!), the bed (hard!) and the wifi (open and able to be used by every neighbor which slows down significantly due to this lack of bandwidth).
We stayed at The Restoration Hotel in Charleston, SC, from April 4 – 7, 2025, in the Two Bedroom Residence, and it was an excellent experience from start to finish! Our spacious residence was beautifully arranged and felt more like a private downtown home than a typical hotel room. The suite features two king-bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a full kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a comfortable living room, and even a washer and dryer, perfect for extended stays or families traveling together. The interior blends historic character like exposed brick and hardwood floors with modern comforts and thoughtful touches throughout. One of the highlights of our stay was the wonderful service, the staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. Each morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast delivered right to our door, with a great selection of fresh items that started our days off perfectly. We also loved the hotel’s prime location in downtown Charleston. Being able to walk everywhere, from historic sites to restaurants, shops, and scenic streets, It made exploring the city so easy and enjoyable. Charleston’s walkable downtown and vibrant culture truly added to the charm of our stay. Our stay at The Restoration Hotel was comfortable, memorable, and perfectly situated to discover all that Charleston has to offer. I would recommend it for anyone looking for both comfort and convenience in the heart of the city!
I have to say I’m so impressed with this hotel. I have been to Charleston 5 times and this was my first time there and from now on I will be staying here when visiting the city. From the breakfast basket every morning to the complimentary happy hour at 5pm with charcuterie board and fresh chilled wine. It’s quiet, modern, luxurious, clean and very spacious rooms. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Also we didn’t need this service but they offered free rides within 2 miles. Great idea but we weren’t there long. I will definitely use this service next time.
We have been upgraded both times we made a reservation here. Rooms are nice and large. We have only stayed on the residence side. Washer and dryer are a nice added feature. My only con… last stay they had warm cookies nightly in the lobby. This stay apparently they have been discontinued. The morning baskets and cookies are a joy to toddlers. Recommend BRING BACK THE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES PLEASE
The hotel is in a great spot. Front desk was friendly and prompt. Rooms have great amenities, clean and spacious. There were some real issues after this that really hurt the overall experience though. No real concierge available. Have to email and slow to respond. Beds are far too hard for a luxury hotel. Hard to get rest if your not use to probably the hardest mattress I’ve ever had to sleep on. Breakfast provided at door nice touch but very budget. Bathroom fans needed replaced. They both rattled horribly and one was hanging down from the ceiling. Also, not sure if it was our room in particular, but the last two nights awoke to loud droning outside @5am. Walls are very thin and let in a lot of outside noise along with hearing next room overs conversations.
