Zero George Hotel and Restaurant delivered an experience that felt truly extraordinary from start to finish. This is easily one of my favorite stays globally and a place I will be talking about for a long time. Restaurant and food The food was phenomenal, striking the perfect balance between incredible flavor and artistic presentation. Every dish that came to the table looked like a work of art, with thoughtful plating that made you pause for a moment just to take it in before tasting. The A5 Wagyu was especially delicious…rich, tender, and cooked perfectly, it stood out even in an already exceptional meal. Overall, there was a clear sense of creativity and care in the menu, both in taste and in how beautifully everything was displayed. Service at the restaurant Service at the restaurant matched the quality of the food in every way. My server was knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu, offering helpful explanations and recommendations without ever feeling intrusive. They answered questions with confidence, guided the experience smoothly, and added to the sense that this was a very special evening. Their kindness and professionalism helped make the meal feel both elevated and relaxed at the same time. Hotel atmosphere and vibe The hotel itself felt like stepping into another era, a transport back to colonial history with a stylish, intimate twist. The architecture, details, and ambiance created a mood that I can only describe as “vampires and vintage,” in the best possible way: romantic, slightly mysterious, and full of character. Walking through the property felt like moving through a beautifully preserved piece of history, but with all the comfort and luxury of a modern boutique stay. I was beyond thrilled by how immersive and unique the atmosphere was. Concierge and overall stay The concierge went above and beyond to elevate the stay even further. Their recommendations for tourist attractions, local spots, and things to do around the city were thoughtful, personalized, and spot on, making it easy to get the most out of the trip. Every interaction with the staff, from the front desk to the restaurant, reinforced the feeling that they truly cared about my experience. Thank you to both the restaurant and hotel teams for creating a stay that felt special in every detail. 10/10

Excellent service from the moment you step foot in the property (special shoutouts to Louisa and Rachel). Staying here feels like you were transported back in time in the best way. If you want to experience true southern hospitality and exceptional dining, stay at Zero George. It is also very conveniently located if you are exploring Charleston's historic attractions.

Best stay I've had anywhere. The property is absolutely stunning & the service is top notch. All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We stayed in one of the Anson suites - loved how oversized it was & having a separate vanity room to do makeup and get ready in. The room was stocked with carafes of water and a nespresso machine. We had a huge semi-private patio that we ate breakfast on each morning. The bed and linens were incredibly comfortable. There are 2 cleaning services per day and they bring fresh baked cookies, fresh carafes of water, ear buds and slippers with the turn down service at night. So many items were branded with their logo, which made all the details feel intentional. There is a white noise machine in the room. We made a reservation at the caviar bar and were able to order one of the items from the tasting menu. Everything was so good, I can't wait to come back and do the testing menu. There is also complimentary wine & charcuterie at 5PM each day - you can sit in the gardens/courtyard. The location is about a 10 minute walk from most things downtown. We uber'ed at night and didn't have any issues. Highly recommend, I can't wait to return!

The best hotel in the world — Zero George, Charleston. There are beautiful hotels, and then there is Zero George — a place that feels like a perfectly written story you never want to end. From the moment you step inside, everything here breathes quiet elegance and southern charm. The courtyard with its jasmine-scented air, the creaking wooden floors, the slow rhythm of the city outside the gates — it all feels like time has gently stopped to let you rest and enjoy. The service is pure perfection: warm, discreet, and deeply personal. You feel like everyone here genuinely cares about your comfort, but never overdoes it. Breakfast in the garden is a ritual — homemade granola, fresh pastries, and the kind of coffee that makes you want to linger for hours. The rooms are filled with light and character, every detail thoughtfully chosen — from the linen bedding to the vintage-inspired lighting. And of course, the restaurant. Dining here is an experience that rivals Michelin stars — seasonal, creative, and full of soul. I’ve stayed in many beautiful places, but Zero George is in a category of its own. It’s not just a hotel — it’s a feeling you’ll want to carry with you long after you’ve left.

The food is so good, almost indescribable. Their ability to fuse taste, texture, and temperature is amazing. Tried the 6-course food tasting with wine pairing. Sommelier could not have done a better job with the pairing. Worth every cent!

We stayed at Zero George for our anniversary and we absolutely loved our stay here. The property was beautifully maintained and is a great place for couples to stay. The location of the property is another great added advantage as well as it is very easy to either walk or bike to downtown Charleston. From the general hospitality, to extremely quick and prompt responses to any requests from our own end and the little touches such as cookies as soon as we arrived, to a luggage tag souvenir at the end when we were leaving the place made sure we will remember Zero George for a long time. Lastly, the breakfast also deserves an honorable mention as it was extremely fresh and tasty.

Zero sleep at Zero George. This review reflects my specific room and experience. I made a last-minute, one-night booking without doing any research other than looking at a few pics and seeing a generally positive overall review score. If you're sensitive to road noise, this isn't the hotel for you. My room backed up directly to East Bay Street, one of the busiest four lane roads in Old Town Charleston, and is subject to constant street noise and vibrations throughout the day and night: cars, commercial trucks, motorcycles, braking, acceleration, mufflers, thumping bass...all just on the other side of the seemingly thin wall. Both a white noise machine and a white noise app running on my laptop at full volume, were no match for East Bay St. The hotel was fully booked when I checked in, and unfortunately, no alternative rooms were available. While there are rooms in other buildings away from East Bay that may offer a different experience, unless you can guarantee you're not getting one that borders East Bay, I’d look elsewhere if rest and quiet is a priority. They should delineate and reprice rooms that border East Bay and/or make material investments into soundproofing. Plenty of options in old town that are in more quiet locations, which I'll be selecting from, on my next visit. For reference, I stayed in the Cooper building. Beyond that, nothing was standout...service was mediocre, breakfast underwhelming. Side note: I accidently went to the wrong room when returning in the evening and my key worked. Fortunately no one was in the room.

Visited with my sister this past week. I’ve had this hotel on my list of “Must Visit” hotels for years, and said the next time I came to Charleston, I’d stay here. Pros: The hotel itself was even better than what I had envisioned. The grounds are charming and magical, and love the somewhat all inclusive feel to it, with free wine and cheese hour + free breakfast. The rooms are well appointed with waters, cookies, and great robes. I absolutely loved the property. Cons: The service was lacking, and not 5-star. Bad experience with some of the staff. We did the tasting menu with an 830 pm reservation, and was rushed through it, and lights being turned off while still eating. Had a not so great interaction with a bartender who snapped at me when I asked if they had a martini list, and felt we were being judged at check in/check out, but did have great experiences with some of the staff. So it wasn’t all bad. If I didn’t love the hotel grounds so much, I’d probably not come back, but because I loved the vibe of the hotel so much, and location, I’ll come back again and give it another shot on my next trip to Charleston.

11/10 dining experience! My husband and I enjoyed the tasting menu, add caviar, add wine pairings, add waygu and it was absolutely incredible. The level of service the staff upholds is chefs kiss. Worth every penny! We can’t wait to come back and see the next tasting menu they create. Cannot say more about how wonderful our culinary experience was!
