The Andell Inn consistently receives high praise for its exceptional service, luxurious accommodations, and prime location near Freshfields Village and the beach. Guests rave about the personalized attention, delicious breakfast, and overall memorable experience, often citing it as a special place for celebrations. However, some reviews highlight concerns regarding inconsistent room cleaning and potential issues with staff communication.
Update on our stay at the Andell Inn—this visit truly went above and beyond! Risma is absolutely the greatest. They remembered my birthday and our anniversary, which made everything feel so personal and thoughtful. We were even upgraded to the Presidential Suite and surprised with two bottles of champagne during our stay—such an incredible touch! This was hands down one of the best experiences we’ve had, and I felt so special the entire time. Not that every stay isn't special! Thank you, Risma and The Andell Inn, for a visit that will definitely be one of our cherished memories. We can’t wait to come back next year! My husband and I absolutely love the Andell Inn and Freshfields Village! We’ve visited many times and keep coming back—it truly feels like a hidden gem. From the beautiful decor to the amazing breakfast with bottomless mimosas, everything is always spot on. The staff is consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful, which makes every stay even better. We’re getting ready to visit again on May 17 for a few days to celebrate our 10-year anniversary and a 55th birthday—such a special place for a special occasion! We can’t wait to be back. If you haven’t experienced the Andell yet, you definitely need to!
We had the best time at Andell Inn. Spacious and clean rooms incl. a kitchen. Beds were great on par with Marriot standards. Easy self parking. Staff were all professional and friendly - special shoutout to Clifford who shuttled us to the beach and provided top tier service and friendly conversation. The included breakfast is definitely top rated of all Marriott properties and was such a great and easy way to start the day. You are within walking distance to several shops and restaurants, and getting to the beach is very easy via the shuttle or bike (you could also drive yourself and pay to park). We absolutely loved the heated saltwater pool. Comfortable chairs and good ambience - only wish it was open past sunset. We will stay here again!
We stayed at the Andell Inn during Easter week--our third stay. What a disappointment. A six-day stay and only 1 day of our room being cleaned, even after repeatedly asking. A few points were tossed our way. During our previous stay, we noticed the bartender slurring his speech and could not get our order right. I indicated this to the manager--she only chastised me for even thinking an employee could be taking drugs (marijuana). Sorry. ( I will bring my own bottle of Chardonnay. Because this hotel has a great location--it can provide low-grade service, perhaps?) Remember, if you stay--ask for your room to be cleaned EVERY day. At this price it should be included.--I have to add to this post--we were charged for our entire stay the first day. No problem. We checked out one day early. Upon leaving, we were handed a receipt for the correct amount (less the one night); however, the credit card was charged for the full amount. I am glad we reviewed the charges on our card. We placed a hold on the charge right away. Help! I want to like this place. :)
Amazing family getaway! This beautiful 3-story hotel made us feel like we were in another country. The breakfast buffet was delicious, and we loved the live music and mimosas in the morning! ?The beach is pristine and very clean. We even got lucky and saw dolphins swimming right along the shore! Being so close to the shops at Freshfields Village made everything so easy. Highly recommend for a relaxing family trip near Charleston!
Easily one of the top 3 hotels I’ve stayed at in the past 20 years. This place perfects what an authentic Charleston experience should be—exceptional accommodations, curated boutique shopping, and seriously delicious food, all right there basically on the same property. But here’s what really sets it apart: the staff. We’ve stayed at a lot of hotels over the years, and the genuine southern hospitality here was next level. Every interaction felt thoughtful and personal, not scripted or robotic. They clearly take pride in what they do, and it shows. My wife and I are already planning our return trip. If you’re looking for the real Charleston experience without the tourist trap nonsense, this is it.
A reasonably priced, beautifully designed, clean hotel. Everything looks grand new. A hot delicious breakfast is included. They serve Mamosas and yummy biscuits and gravy. The pool is legit heated. The only downside - not hot tub, no food service until 4pm. After traveling food and drinks by the pool is a must. Uber Eats took over an hour.
An exemplary hotel experience in all regards. Room is spacious, very clean, with updated furnishings and electronics. Mini kitchen with full size fridge, stove top, prep area and sink, with all dishes and Ute sips are very convenient. There were no surprises upon arrival with a pleasant and efficient check in and a room ready on time. All interactions with staff have been pleasant and helpful; over 5 days not a negative interaction but many very pleasant ones. Breakfast is most definitely in the top tier of all Marriott properties serving a free meal. Fresh, real eggs, a variety of meats, biscuits and gravy, a variety of fruits and veggies, and limited pastries and breads. If you’re diabetic or gluten free you’ll find a good meal here. Proximity to shops, eateries, and the beach is very easy. Parking is practically front door. The property is lovely with seating outside and a well sized pool - but not big enough for laps. I’d have no hesitation about another stay and find this to be amongst the best non-resort Marriott properties we’ve encountered. In actuality you’d assume this is a local boutique hotel if you didn’t already know it was a Marriott hotel. Cudos to management and staff for making this a reality.
The Crown Jewel of the Marriott Portfolio - As a Lifetime Marriott Titanium Elite member, I've stayed at countless properties worldwide, but The Andell Inn is the finest hotel in the entire Marriott portfolio. What truly sets this property apart are the employees including Marisa, the Assistant General Manager. She is one of the best hotel managers I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Her attention to detail, genuine warmth, and commitment to excellence are unparalleled. Marisa doesn't just manage a hotel she creates unforgettable experiences. If you're looking for a Marriott property that exemplifies luxury hospitality, The Andell Inn is your destination. Highly recommended!
Amazing destination hotel! No complaints, but I have a suggestion... We had a suite room with a kitchen of course. The only improvement I suggest is get rid of Starbucks coffee.. and have a single cup coffee maker with a quality coffee available to use. People who enjoy a good coffee no matter what time of day or night, would appreciate it! Aside from that .. absolutely wonderful hotel with great friendly staff always willing to assist you!
This hotel is located right next to plenty of shops and restaurants! The hotel is clean and has a bar inside. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and has many options. They do live music during Saturday breakfast and it was very nice. They have an outside sitting area that is nice and relaxing. The pool is on the smaller side but a nice treat!
