The Best Western Charleston Inn receives generally positive reviews, particularly highlighting its affordable rates, convenient location, and friendly staff. However, recent reviews indicate recurring concerns regarding room cleanliness, outdated facilities, and inconsistent service. Some guests experienced issues with malfunctioning equipment, unpleasant odors, and safety concerns in certain areas.
The front desk woman who checked us in made a change of room to accommodate my handicapped girlfriend that I was traveling with. She went out of her way to do that. Then, she recommended The Glass Onion for food as I’d seen it just down the street and that was excellent too. Breakfast was delicious, beds comfy, room very clean, so we were very pleased with our stay.
My daughter in law was in MUSC. Her brain shunt had broken. My son and me were with her. The first night we didn't get out of the hospital til 3am and we stayed in a crappy hotel. I told my son we would not stay there another night. So the next morning I booked a room at Best Western. We checked out twice thinking we were going home but we didn't. Both times we booked with Best Western again. I love Best Western and now my son does too.
Stayed here for three nights. Staff was very friendly and engaging. The rooms were clean, and a great size. The price was really great. I had a medical emergency while in town, and had to stay one more night, the staff was extremely helpful in getting me through that process. The only critique I have, and it isn't anything they can control, is if you're wanting quiet, the back stretch of rooms overlook a residential neighborhood. Maybe it was just a 1-2 night thing, but there were kids screaming at the top of their lungs while playing up til about 10:30-11 p.m. and they were not stopping. That is nothing against the hotel, seeing there's literally nothing they can do about that, but if that is something that could bother you, definitely make a note of that in your reservation so they can put you in a spot away from that.
This is our go to Hotel when we go to Charleston, awesome location with a easy drive to historic downtown. I want to say that the staff here are truly exceptional, the night desk staff member, Sammy, is so helpful and knowledgeable about the area and was so friendly and kind. Shout out to my man Sammy!! And breakfast is provided, absolutely perfect breakfast, the kitchen attendant, a young lady, has the best layout, clean, tidy and fresh. Stay here for your trip to Charleston and you really won't be disappointed, can't wait to go back!! Thank you to the Best Western hotel staff, we'll be back soon for sure ?
When we arrived in the afternoon the gal at the front desk was not in a good mood. Upon entering I started small talk with her as I was walking through the doors and she wasn't having it. She wanted to get through her script and get rid of me as soon as possible. When we checked out 2 days later the lady at the desk was very pleasant and kind and courteous! The motel style rooms were redone and visually looked good, however, our room had many broken things and very difficult to get fresh air since they closed off the balconies and the sliding door was replaced with glass. These type of air conditioners in the wall just so you know do not bring in outside air unless they have the special type that are very expensive. Because of this the room did not air out very well and it was smelly. Thankfully they didn't pour a bunch of deodorant perfume in there which I am allergic to. Also when we arrive there was a dead bird out on the balcony platform it must have hit the window. Unless it just happened, you would think the maid would tell somebody. But like I said it may have happened after the maid finished. Who knows? We will not be returning to this place.
I enjoyed my stay. Room was clean and cozy. Customer service was excellent. Only downside was they were unable to take tap pay and no cash as I was traveling and didn't have my debit card but I got it figured out. Other than that, great place to stay for a few days.
Good value overall. We always appreciate the mini fridge and microwave. But there were some issues. The window faced the pool which was nice to look at, but while there was a small ledge that would have allowed room for a cute little balcony, not only was there no door but the window didn't even open! Consequently the room was a bit stuffy. The carpet was also damp and almost sticky feeling. We finally found out why. One of the sinks was leaking, and my husband's slipped and almost fell because of the water on the floor. And one of my absolute biggest pet peeves in hotels - light switches outside the bathroom, and no separate fan without a light! Why!?! This is so inconvenient - if you have to turn on the bathroom light at night (would rather just be able to turn on the fan only), it inconveniences anyone else in the room. There was also someone in the parking lot playing extremely loud music in their car for quite a while, but someone at the front desk did take care of that issue fairly quickly after we called though.
I have been coming to Best Western Charleston Inn for 8 years. My Girlfriend and I have had nothing but amazing stays. Always first floor, poolside. Everybody working here bent over backwards to accommodate you. The landscaping was meticulously cared for as well. It changed ownership in the last year or so, and I was wondering how that would effect my stay. I was very hopeful it would be as good, if not better then it had been for all those years. I had tried to call the hotel to make reservations, they merely transfered me to the 800# for reservations. I hung up. In the past it was suggested to call directly, so they could ensure everything was right, after corporate had botched one of my reservations. So, walking in off the street I told them I wanted first floor, pool view. I was told every one of those rooms were unavailable. She could only book me into one in the far back (facing a halfway house and woods). I have never felt safe back there at night. I declined. Used my phone, booked the exact room I wanted on the best western website. Walked back in told her I had a reservation, and I was informed again that she couldn't help me. The website listed many rooms available. I pointed that out, and magically the exact room I had booked appeared! Im grateful for the room. But I fear I will not chance it again, which is sad. I loved this place, and miss the extended family who ran it. They made it feel like a home away from home.
The room was a little outdated but it was clean, had a microwave, mini fridge, and Kurig. Nice looking pool although we didn’t use it. Nice hot breakfast and friendly staff. We were pleasantly surprised!
Excellent location, about 4 miles into downtown Charleston. Affordable rates. Clean rooms, excellent hot breakfast items and cold temps too. Waffles, eggs, sausage, all kinds of breads, cereals, yogurts, etc.
