The Charleston Place consistently receives high praise for its exceptional service, luxurious accommodations, and prime location in the heart of Charleston’s historic district. Guests rave about the attentive staff, beautifully appointed rooms, and convenient access to popular attractions, though some have noted ongoing construction and potential noise concerns. Overall, it’s considered a premier experience in the city.
An absolutely glowing stay at Charleston Place! Everything was beyond perfection. The staff was so attentive, the service impeccable, and the food excellent. The pool and the beautiful bar were highlights, offering that perfect balance of elevated yet warm, chic yet cozy. The location right on Meeting Street puts you steps from all the best shops, and it’s also just a short walk to the Gibbes Museum, Rainbow Row, and The Pineapple Fountain. The attention to detail is what really sets this place apart, offering everything you could ever need while traveling, with a warmth that still feels like home. A special touch we all loved, especially the kids, was the turndown service. I left my book on the nightstand, and when I got back to the room, there was a beautiful bookmark waiting for me. Truly all the little things that matter! Be sure to check out their sister property The Cooper because it is just as incredible!
My stay at The Charleston Place was organized around a local half marathon, which meant the hotel mattered most when we were tired enough to appreciate it. It delivered the Southern character we had come to Charleston for alongside the comfort and polish of a serious luxury hotel. Our room was excellent, and the location in the historic district made it easy to explore the city on foot. For a race weekend, that combination was fantastic. After the half marathon, the rooftop pool and hot tub became our recovery area. We were completely exhausted, and soaking in the water above the city gave us the physical reset we needed. The shaded roundabout at the entrance, framed by lush vegetation, created a gracious arrival that I still remember clearly. Inside, the grand lobby gave the property the institutional weight of a true Charleston landmark. Charleston itself already had tremendous momentum, with its food, architecture, and street life drawing people back again and again. The hotel placed us directly in that energy while offering a polished retreat at the end of the day. I left with enormous affection for both the property and the city and hope to return soon.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and tastefully decorated. The staff is the most friendliest staff I have ever come across. My only complaint is that for a big hotel they do not have many seats by the pool so we had to put our name on a wait list.
I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels over the years, but The Charleston Place was something different. What started as a vacation quickly felt like visiting old friends. Every staff member we encountered was welcoming, kind, and seemed genuinely invested in making sure we had a great time. Patrick, one of the bellmen, and August, our butler, deserve a special shoutout. They went above and beyond in ways both big and small, and by the end of the trip, it felt like we’d known them for years. One of my favorite memories wasn’t even something you’d find in a brochure. Somehow conversations turned into basketball history lessons and debates about the Spurs versus the Knicks. Where else can you get luxury accommodations and a sports talk show all in one stay? The room was absolutely immaculate. Every space felt thoughtfully maintained and comfortable. The dining options were incredible too. Whether we were grabbing a quick bite or sitting down for a meal, everything exceeded expectations. But what I’ll remember most is how the people made us feel. Luxury is great, but genuine hospitality is rare, and The Charleston Place has mastered it. Charleston has officially earned a permanent spot on our travel calendar, and The Charleston Place will be our home base every single time. If you’re planning a trip to Charleston and you’re on the fence about where to stay, do yourself a favor and book The Charleston Place. Come for the beautiful hotel, stay for the people, and don’t be surprised if you leave feeling like you’ve made a few friends along the way.
Can’t say enough about this experience. My girlfriend and I went for Memorial Day weekend and I was blown away in every aspect. From the assistance with luggage when we arrived, to random delivery’s of macaroons just because, nightly turndown service, this is a 5 star experience. The on site restaurants are also at an elevated caliber, Breakfest at the palmetto and apps or an after dinner cocktail at the thoroughbred club really enhance the experience. I was trouble's to hear the pool wasn’t available during our stay for the renovations, but the staff accommodated us and credited us a resort pass for the day without hesitation to ensure we had the best experience I don’t know when I’ll be back to Charleston, but when that happens, I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else
Mr. John Victor provided an absolutely perfect service. He was informative about places to visit for shopping and food and also took pictures for us. Customer service is a determining factor for me and my fiancé. And the Charleston hotel and their staff met our expectations and exceeded them with Mr . John Victors performance and enthusiasm in making my birthday weekend memorable. We highly recommend staying here as the staff in house is extremely friendly and welcoming as we we experienced with the professionalism exemplified by Mr. John Victors performance in addition Mr. John, our server Mr. Andrew for breakfast provided an exceptional level of performance and courtesy that has made our stay even more memorable and fun. Our stay here has been nothing short of amazing.
We made a last minute reservation with two large dogs and the stay was great. I can't say enough good things about the staff as they were professional, attentive, knowledgeable, helpful and clearly liked dogs. We'll definitely stay there again if we're in Charleston.
5 stars PLUS! From arrival to departure the staff at the Charleston Place Hotel makes you feel like a VIP. From valet, bellmen, concierge and club staff they take the time to learn your name and make an effort to address you every time they see you. Very impressive. The hotel is beautiful and undergoing renovations. You would be hard pressed to tell from the areas we saw. We stayed in one of their newly renovated rooms and it was comfortable and charming. Decor was well thought out. It provided a southern luxury vibe you expect when visiting a city like Charleston. The hotel has great amenities and location is in the heart of Charleston walking distance to many sights and restaurants. My kids said it was the best hotel ever. They did have a candy bar in the club area. Rarely do I ever look forward to going back to a hotel but the Charleston Place hotel is on that list. Can’t wait to see the pool area when it finished later this year.
This is a beautiful hotel well located near all the major attractions Charleston has to offer. We had a lovely, spacious room in the newly renovated area with a Juliet balcony overlooking Market Street which, in this block at least, was not too busy with cars - only the clopping of horses' hooves as they meandered tourists in carriages around the city. The service is the most outstanding I've ever encountered in a large hotel of this sort - the staff is very well trained ! They are friendly and helpful at all times, try to remember your name and assist with any request. I would particularly like to acknowledge Rudy in the dining room who always greeted us by name at breakfast and remembered our food/beverage preferences, Jessie in the bar area who took good care of us "old folks" in the buzzing and busy bar and Joseph at the front desk who patiently printed out our morning crossword puzzles every day we were there. The rest of the staff is outstanding as well. A wonderful trip to a delightful city and hotel. Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny! Southern hospitality at it's finest - the entire staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. They made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The room was clean, updated and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the shopping and dining available, so convenient! You can't beat the location, perfect for our trip to enjoy King Street and the College of Charleston. Thank you!
