The Charleston Place consistently receives rave reviews for its exceptional service and prime location in the heart of Charleston. Guests frequently highlight the friendly and attentive staff, particularly in the Club Lounge, and the hotel’s luxurious ambiance. While ongoing renovations are noted, the overall experience is described as unforgettable due to the personalized attention and high-quality amenities.
5 stars PLUS! From arrival to departure the staff at the Charleston Place Hotel makes you feel like a VIP. From valet, bellmen, concierge and club staff they take the time to learn your name and make an effort to address you every time they see you. Very impressive. The hotel is beautiful and undergoing renovations. You would be hard pressed to tell from the areas we saw. We stayed in one of their newly renovated rooms and it was comfortable and charming. Decor was well thought out. It provided a southern luxury vibe you expect when visiting a city like Charleston. The hotel has great amenities and location is in the heart of Charleston walking distance to many sights and restaurants. My kids said it was the best hotel ever. They did have a candy bar in the club area. Rarely do I ever look forward to going back to a hotel but the Charleston Place hotel is on that list. Can’t wait to see the pool area when it finished later this year.
This is a beautiful hotel well located near all the major attractions Charleston has to offer. We had a lovely, spacious room in the newly renovated area with a Juliet balcony overlooking Market Street which, in this block at least, was not too busy with cars - only the clopping of horses' hooves as they meandered tourists in carriages around the city. The service is the most outstanding I've ever encountered in a large hotel of this sort - the staff is very well trained ! They are friendly and helpful at all times, try to remember your name and assist with any request. I would particularly like to acknowledge Rudy in the dining room who always greeted us by name at breakfast and remembered our food/beverage preferences, Jessie in the bar area who took good care of us "old folks" in the buzzing and busy bar and Joseph at the front desk who patiently printed out our morning crossword puzzles every day we were there. The rest of the staff is outstanding as well. A wonderful trip to a delightful city and hotel. Thank you!
Absolutely gorgeous and worth every penny! Southern hospitality at it's finest - the entire staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. They made sure we were comfortable and well taken care of. The room was clean, updated and very comfortable. We also enjoyed the shopping and dining available, so convenient! You can't beat the location, perfect for our trip to enjoy King Street and the College of Charleston. Thank you!
We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience at The Charleston Place. From the moment we arrived, the level of service was exceptional and every staff member made us feel welcomed and valued, not just like a guest, but like someone they truly cared about. The attention to detail, warmth, and professionalism throughout the hotel created such a special atmosphere that it elevated our entire stay. We especially want to recognize Huy in the Club Lounge. His kindness, attentiveness, and thoughtful touches made a lasting impression. He anticipated our needs and always greeted us with a sincere smile. It’s rare to encounter someone so dedicated to making guests feel comfortable and appreciated. The Charleston Place is already a beautiful hotel, but it’s the people, especially team members like Huy, who make it unforgettable. I would return in a heartbeat and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone looking for a truly outstanding and memorable stay.
The Charlston Place was by far the most amazing place I have ever stayed at. We were greeted before we even turned into the driveway. Alessandro at the front desk made our stay over the top. We asked to change rooms so we could have a bathtub. He not only got us an amazing room but had a bubble bath and wine ready for me. He was our go to guy during our stay and we couldn't have been more impressed. Frank helped us to our room with our luggage and he was also fantastic. He was so kind and informative...both times he escorted us to our rooms. We had lunch in the restaurant and Hal was our excellent and quite classy server. Alicia was our hostess and she was so sweet. Mike Henry made sure everything was perfect. He would dart in to check on us and assist us with anything we needed. The food was wonderful. Service top notch. This is a must when in the Charlston area. I highly recommend The Charleston Place.
The best hotel I have ever stayed in. Service is unmatched. Everyone that works there exemplifies a person who is a steward of their profession. I never had a dry mouth or a dull moment. Thank you for a real treat and service that is rare in the world.
I've stayed at the Charleston Place four different times. The last two times have been during their construction period, but they still never fail to make it a great stay. While the hotel is a work of art in itself, they also have some of the best employees. Everyone from the valet, the front desk staff, the housekeeping etc., are so kind and personable. Samone never fails to put a smile on my face and make my family and I feel special. I consistently recommend this place to anyone visiting Charleston. The hotel and its staff are so detail oriented, it makes it such a joy to stay here. Don't miss the Charleston Place if you're in Charleston!
We loved the Charleston Place. It is stunning and really has so much of the Charleston charm. We stayed in a one bedroom updated suite … it had a balcony with a beautiful view of King Street. We brought our two young kids who slept on the pull out. We felt like we could walk everywhere in Charleston. Roosevelt, the bell hop, was very nice and helpful and Pavell in valet as well. The only negatives…the Wi-Fi. It’s very spotty which can be frustrating. We ate a Palmetto for breakfast one morning, using some hotel credit we had… The food was just OK. I would venture out outside the hotel for a really good meal. I do wish housekeeping had come during the day while we were gone for 6 hours, but that’s just me being picky! They did a fabulous job for turndown service and were prompt with everything else.
Our room was fantastic- the 1br suite was well worth the upgrade especially with a family. The service was excellent throughout. Pavel was particularly memorable for our warm welcome. The location was obviously superb. Hard to beat that. Biggest frustration was the wifi. They’re well behind the curve with expected speed and easy of connecting. It worked for the most part. Some devices couldn’t connect. We did wish there was a touch more housekeeping presence through the day, but that’s really nitpicking. Would (and likely will) come again!
I think I’m going to give this a hotel a try next time I’m in town simply for the lobby alone! It has one of the best lobbies I’ve ever seen! It’s super bright, marble floors, and a truly grand double staircase. They decorated it beautifully for Christmastime, and they have live classical musicians playing. There are two cafés you can eat at, and they have high end and mid end shopping inside as well. My favorite part is the chandelier above the staircase and the train and Christmas village display below the chandelier. It was huge and very intricate down to the smallest detail! This hotel is also a great shortcut to get from one block of the street to another if you don’t want to walk outside for any reason. I can’t wait to stay here one day!
