The Hampton Inn Daniel Island presents a mixed experience based on recent reviews, highlighting both strong service and significant cleanliness and maintenance issues. While some guests praise the location, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms, particularly emphasizing the convenient location, others report serious problems including bugs, dirty facilities, and lack of housekeeping service.
On a memorial trip to a funeral and we booked the room a month in the future accidentally. Che at the front desk was exceptionally professional and accommodating making the end of a long day and a big mistake not so terrible. Massive thanks to Che. ?
LIVE BUGS, dirty breakfast bar, and dirty rooms- BEWARE!!!! Unfortunately we did not have a great stay, and will not return. The front desk staff was very friendly at check in, and gave us lots of information. Once in the room, we struggled to get the AC going and comfortable. Later that evening, my daughter tried to shower, and the handle would not stay put. The options were scalding hot or freezing cold. The AC was extremely loud and rattled. When we woke up, there was a bug, looked to be a roach, on my headboard of the bed. I was disgusted to say the least and also concerned that it wasn't something worse. The staff asked how things were going, we informed them of our issues. They assured us the room was cleaned and serviced. We went back that afternoon, it seemed as nothing was completed. That evening, I tried to shower and had the same issue - scalding hot or freezing cold. We checked the beds and all looked ok, so we went to sleep. Once again, when we got up and were moving around, we found ANOTHER LIVE BUG in my daughters bed!!!! We packed our things, and as we were checking to see if there were any remnants of bed bugs, we found old moldy skittles and empty liquor bottles under the beds!!! Oh also during breakfast, the cereal was old and stale. The worst part was their staff. He dropped tongs on the floor, left them while he replenished the yogurts, then set them directly back up on the counter!! I asked him if those were the ones that fell on the floor - he was annoyed. He never did bring clean ones out! Once we spoke with the front desk staff, she was mortified. She said she would email the Owners and GM and I could expect a call. It has been 3 days with no response. I will be following up with this, if they do not answer, I will take it to corporate. We stay in hotels alot, and this is one of the worst!!!!!
My wife and I stayed here as part of our 50th Anniversary celebration travels. We were very impressed with the location, which was surrounded by beautiful trees and landscaping, as well as being in a quiet location. Upon entering, we were greeted by a lobby that had been decorated beautifully for the holidays. The front desk employee was very polite, greeting us with a smile as we walked in. Her name was Kyla, and she couldn’t have been more pleasant to work with. She made the check-in process quick and effortless. Within 30 minutes of us checking in, Kyla texted to make sure that everything in our room was satisfactory. I salute the management of this property for having someone with Kyla’s work ethic and personality in their employ. She truly is an asset to the property. What a refreshing change it is to meet someone that still believes in something called customer service and satisfaction! Our room smelled fresh and was very clean when we checked it. This is not a new hotel, but it was obvious that great care had been taken during the cleaning and preparation process of our room by the housekeeping staff. Another very important point worth mentioning was the air conditioner… It worked perfectly! Unlike so many of the hotels we’ve stayed in over the past several years, this hotel doesn’t use thermostats that use motion sensors to detect movement, which will cut your AC off while you’re sleeping, causing you to wake up wet with sweat. Their thermostats also don’t limit your temperature setting, so if you’re like us, and sleep with the room colder at night, you can drop your temperature on down to 67 or 68 degrees and sleep like you do at home. In my opinion, this is the way all hotels should be! When you pay the asking price for a hotel room, you should have full control over the AC, just like you do your lights and TV, for the duration of your stay! Thank you Hampton Inn - Daniel Island! We ate breakfast at this hotel twice, which consisted of typical Hampton Inn fare; Scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, waffles, etc. Both days offered the same thing, so I’m not sure if they change it up occasionally or not. We have no complaints about the food. They have a beautiful and spacious dining area here as well. Once again, my wife and I could not have been more satisfied with our stay. We will most definitely stay here again the next time we’re in the area!
Good location to visit Charleston. Very friendly staff (Had contact to the front desk & the facility manager ?) Good atmosphere, great rooms. Good dining options in the safe area around the hotel.
Enjoyed my stay at this hotel! It's the perfect location for a short drive down to Isle of Palm to enjoy the beach, or a quick drive over to Charleston to enjoy the city market. Lots of restaurants in the locale, and lots of options on DoorDash if you need a quiet night in. Free breakfast was decent, room was clean, loved the walk-in shower in the bathroom, staff was pleasant with quick check in and even quicker checkout. Loved that they take pets, the pool was nice, and there's plenty of parking. Would definitely stay here again!
Loved the hotel. Katrina checked me in she was super polite and so friendly. She also checked me out. We came for a convention and had a wonderful time. The breakfast was nice fresh and hot and all the rooms were clean.
I had an amazing stay at this Hilton! The place was spotless — from the rooms to the lobby, everything was super clean. The food was really good, and the hospitality was top-notch. Almost every employee I interacted with was professional, friendly, and genuinely helpful. The beds were super comfortable and the sheets felt fresh and clean. Honestly, this is one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. I used to stay at Holiday Inn Express, but after this visit, Hilton has definitely earned me as a loyal customer. Highly recommend!
This is a nice Hampton Inn. There is no gap under the hotel room door. See photos. This allows for the room to be quieter since there is weatherstripping at the bottom. The room is good and has a door to close off the bedroom and kitchen/pull out couch area in the room we selected. The complimentary breakfast is also good. See photos. My only complaint is that in the bedroom did the vanity bathroom area, there is only one light switch. If you turn that on, it lights up the vanity area and the bathroom at the same time. So if one of you needs to use the bathroom in the middle of the night it lights up the whole room.
We stayed for 7 nights and encountered a number of service and facility issues that significantly impacted our experience. We had requested a wheelchair-accessible room in advance to accommodate a walker, but upon arrival we were told none were available. It was especially upsetting to find out that another member of our group, who had not requested accessible accommodations, was given one without any issue. This disregard for accessibility needs was both frustrating and unacceptable. Housekeeping was a serious and ongoing problem. Neither my husband nor I could get our room cleaned despite going to the front desk every single day to request service. We were told it would be taken care of, but nothing was ever done. Our room was only cleaned once during the entire stay. We had to repeatedly ask for clean towels and basic supplies like toilet paper, which were not restocked. At one point, I placed dirty towels outside our door as instructed, and it took two full days for them to be picked up. Another member of our group had the same experience. The pool area was poorly maintained. It was not cleaned overnight, and pool towels were never stocked in the designated area. We had to go to the front desk each time we needed one, which became frustrating and avoidable. The breakfast was exactly the same each day with no variety, showing very little effort to provide a quality amenity to guests. Additional issues included uncomfortably hot hallways, an insufficient number of parking spaces, and overbooking. While in the lobby, I overheard several guests with confirmed reservations being told that no rooms were available for them. That level of mismanagement is simply unacceptable. While the property has potential, the lack of guest service, the failure to address repeated requests, and the overall disregard for basic hospitality standards made our stay unpleasant. We left feeling disappointed and undervalued, and we do not plan to return or recommend this hotel to others.
I’ve stayed here a couple times now — once with my ex and more recently with my current girlfriend. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and has a nice vibe overall. Service has always been great, and the staff is friendly and professional. The location is super convenient, and we didn’t run into any issues during our stay. Breakfast was actually one of the highlights — really well done with good options. My only small complaint is I wish there were more mirrors in the room, and we had a bit of trouble finding the pool at first. But aside from that, everything was solid. Definitely recommend and would stay here again!
