The Loutrel consistently receives rave reviews, praised for its stunning rooms, exceptional service, and prime location in the heart of Charleston’s French Quarter. Guests particularly highlight the hotel’s generous amenities, including complimentary drinks, snacks, and a rooftop terrace, contributing to a memorable and elevated experience.
Our stay at The Loutrel was truly memorable! The rooms are stunning, super clean, and very comfortable. The service was excellent as well! We loved the many amenities the hotel provides such as the daily complimentary happy hour, the unlimited Fiji water, and mezzanine with snacks and games. The bar is a highlight with creative cocktails and delicious food options. The location is amazing - right in the heart of the French Quarter a minutes walk from top bars and restaurants. We would stay here again and highly recommend to all!
Absolutely the best hotel and service we’ve ever stayed at in the US. We stayed here for one day last year and returned for a 4 night stay in May and once again it exceeded all our expectations. As an example, they have lovely cloth cocktail napkins at the bar (great happy hour with signature drink every afternoon) and asked if they sold them. They don’t but the bar manager came over and showed us the website where they get them and provided all the details and contact info so we could order them ourselves. The rooms a beautiful and well stocked with included local snacks and drinks (think free mini bar!) that’s restocked each day. The staff is so helpful, gracious and friendly. The rooms are clean and have everything you need to make your stay more than pleasant. The location is an easy walk from most of the local sites, attractions and great restaurants. The concierge was able to get us reservations at a number of hard to get places (definitely have a meal at Magnolias and Anton’s). I wouldn’t consider staying at any other hotel in Charleston.
This was my first time to Charleston and I couldn’t have picked a better spot. The hotel was easy to get to on a nice quiet side street. It’s located in walking distance to everything! The staff is so kind and friendly and the snacks and drinks were such nice amenities to have waiting for us back in the room. The room was a bit small but clean. The bed is amazing- the robes - not so much. There is a Dyson hair dryer in the bathroom for convenience. Complementary breakfast was nice but very basic. I expected to see some additions like smoked salmon or sliced meats - maybe a sliced tomato. Overall - I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Loutrel to anyone coming to visit. I’d like the thank the staff for making my birthday memorable and my stay amazing. Thank you.
From the time we arrived until the time we checked out, our 3-night stay at The Loutrel couldn’t have been more pleasant. All the staff members are welcoming, friendly, and eager to please. We’ll give a special shout out to Logan at the front desk when we arrived and to Christina and Hannah in the Veranda Lounge for their friendly conversation during the Finest Hour complementary drink service! Everything in the hotel is well maintained and exceptionally clean. Our corner room (404) was spacious and beautifully appointed. It was also very quiet at night with just a bit of street noise during the day from the nearby construction, but that didn’t disturb us since we were out and about anyway. We spent only a short time on the rooftop terrace because it was a bit too hot one day and cool and breezy the others. It offers some nice views of the area and would be a pleasant place to have a drink in more cooperative weather. For exploring the French Quarter, the location is perfect. It’s just a short walk to attractions like the Charleston City Market and to numerous restaurants. If we make it back to Charleston in the future, The Loutrel will be our go-to lodging.
We had an incredible stay at The Loutrel celebrating our 15-year anniversary. From the moment we arrived, everything felt intentional and elevated. Logan made the check-in and check-out process seamless and welcoming. He was professional, personable, and set the tone for the entire stay. You can tell the staff truly cares about the guest experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, quiet, and perfectly located—ideal for a relaxing and meaningful getaway. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to celebrate such a special milestone. Highly recommend
Absolutely stunning! Our second time staying here. Location is fantastic, you can walk everywhere and it’s just a block from the public market. Rooms are beautiful. Our room was huge, beautiful bathroom and lovely balcony with rockers! Free snacks and drinks in your room and in the Mezzanine, they even have free drinks in the bar at happy hour for guests from 4-5 as well as a free continental breakfast which was very good. Everyone there was so pleasant and willing to help any way they could. This is truly an outstanding property run extremely well. We will go out of our way to return to The Loutrel any time we possibly can, and would highly recommend!
This hotel was wonderful! Each detail is so well thought out from the decor throughout to the amenities in the room. Having snacks and drinks in my room each day for free was such a treat! The happy hour and snacks in the lobby and club room were a great touch as well. All the staff was so helpful, food and drinks were great as well.
I was very excited to bring my two best friends to this lovely hotel this past weekend. I have stayed here before and recommended it to many people. This was the first visit for my two friends. Room is very nice and the hotel is thoughtful, beautiful and so enjoyable. Breakfast is wonderful, and hotel location is perfect! I do hope that by adding the hotel bar to Resy, this boutique hotel will not lose its priority to exceptional guest service. Had 2 minor incidents in hotel lobby bar and both could have been avoided. This hotel is considered expensive, so the priority should always be on the hotel guests, NOT outsiders who come in for a drink at hotel bar. I do hope this will be considered by hotel management. (I am happy to share more, if needed.) I definitely noticed this change, during this stay, and I absolutely didn’t feel this way when I stayed here before - I believe the change is that bar was added to Resy. Definitely choose detail and guest service over having a “busy” bar. It will quickly ruin the boutique atmosphere of your lovely hotel!
We stayed at The Loutrel for a long weekend in Charleston, and it was the perfect stay from check in to our final day in the city. From the moment we arrived, the staff was attentive, service oriented, and genuinely friendly, making us feel welcomed. The daily breakfast was a wonderful touch, offering both hot items and continental options, all thoughtfully prepared and well done for guests. We also loved their daily Finest Hour, where they serve fantastic cocktails and it was the perfect way to unwind after a day exploring Charleston. The hotel itself has a beautiful coastal aesthetic with a high end bed and breakfast feel that is elegant, relaxed, and inviting. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and beautifully designed. We especially appreciated the all inclusive snacks and drinks in the room, which were incredibly convenient and added to the overall experience. If you are looking for a quiet and exclusive property with exceptional service and charm, The Loutrel is truly a gem. We highly recommend it and would absolutely stay again.
The Loutrel is a beautiful, centrally located property in the heart of Charleston and an excellent choice for anyone seeking true Southern hospitality. Every staff member was knowledgeable and eager to share recommendations on local attractions, dining, and must-do experiences for a weekend visit. Leah, the bartender, was especially kind and welcoming, effortlessly managing a busy room with grace and professionalism. The guest rooms were immaculate, and the housekeeping team did an outstanding job servicing my room throughout the stay. If you’re looking for a hotel in Charleston, I highly recommend The Loutrel as your go-to destination.
